Purpose: Supporting the audio and visual needs of the people involved with MHUMC’s church service. The Audio-Visual Technician works with the Senior Pastor and Music Director to set up and operate sanctuary audio and visual equipment and ensure it is used to maximum advantage during regularly scheduled streaming worship, special services and rehearsals, as they arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate computer and video equipment for streaming worship services, weddings, and special events, as required.
  • Setup of all audio and visual equipment (including microphones, music stands).
  • Coordinate with Pastor, Music Director & Office Manager for schedule, changes, and instruction.
  • Oversee the visual aids for live stream worship (and sanctuary screen) with pre-service images, in-service music lyrics, etc, as needed.
  • Deliver wireless microphones and equipment to pastors and speakers prior to services or events.
  • Perform proper sound and line checks.
  • Ensure all audio and visual equipment is properly shut down after each use and stowed accordingly.
  • Train and encourage volunteers to assist with AV system operation during absences.
  • Assemble and edit weekly worship videos and post for YouTube, Facebook upload.
  • Assemble documentation and manual for equipment operation.
  • Report needed equipment repairs and coordinate with the office to schedule servicing.
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills Required:
1. Able to work in a team setting and take directions.
2. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with professional sound and audio/visual equipment. Atem switcher and Panasonic camera controller experience helpful.
3. Experience production/performance audio and live streaming - Twitch, ChurchOnline.
4. Experience with mixing video with ProPresenter software.
5. Ability to think quickly and react/troubleshoot properly in high stress situations, especially during Christmas and Easter services.
6. Be able to present a professional appearance and uphold a positive attitude.
7. Arrive on time.
8. Timely response to email and phone calls.

*The Audio-Visual Technician is a key-holder for facilities and must demonstrate capacity to reliably secure church facilities
Special Note: Access to AV equipment is accessible via stairs.

Time Required: 1-hour before the service through 1/2 hour after the service when scheduled. Attending any weekly or quarterly meetings, typically 1 hour in length and held in the evening or after church. Scheduled events that require audio and video such as concerts, plays, etc.

This position is part-time and not eligible for benefits beyond those required by state law.

Length of Service: 1 year minimum.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
