ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Sound Technician is accountable to the Worship Team Leader

HOURS OF WORK:

This is an hourly, non-exempt part-time position. Work hours are expected to be approximately 5 hours per week to include Sunday morning worship services and rehearsals. Additional time may be required for special services, maintaining or installing equipment, and other activities and shall be approved in advance by the Worship Team Leader

REQUIREMENTS

  • Community college certificate or Associate degree minimum or four years on-the-job experience

  • Leadership: works effectively, positively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with staff and volunteers, takes initiative with strong follow-through, practices non-anxious leadership in stressful situations, ability to lead, motivate, and train audio volunteers.
  • Strategy and Communication: participates in refining audio goals, identifies and solves problems, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, and clear communication
  • Financial and Time Management: uses time effectively and efficiently, plans according to budget parameters
  • Innovation and Creativity: generates new ideas and fresh approaches to using audio
  • Experience: knows or willing to be trained on Midas digital board with a digital stage box or equivalent sound board as well as general audio knowledge.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Choir Director and Worship Team Leader to ensure the best quality of sound during services
  • Communicate with the Worship Team Leader prior to weekly Sunday worship services to review any special sound requests and/or troubleshoot ongoing concerns
  • After Sunday worship service, meet with the Worship Team Leader to debrief service
  • Arrive at church one hour before weekly Sunday morning worship service and stay until debrief is complete
  • Set up sound system and check to ensure proper operation
  • Help place equipment as necessary for optimal sound/function
  • Operate equipment for all worship services, rehearsals, designated special services.
  • Ensure sound system is properly shut down after each use and that all equipment is properly put away
  • Responsible for making sure all audio equipment is in peak working condition with fully charged batteries in each handheld microphone, wireless lapel mics and wireless instrument packs
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the job description

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:

The probationary period shall be 90 days beginning with the first worked day.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW:

  • Performance reviews shall be conducted by the Personnel Committee in conjunction with the Worship Team Leader, the Pastor and others as may be necessary.
  • An initial performance review shall be conducted during and/or at the conclusion of the probationary period as may be appropriate.
  • Subsequent performance reviews will be conducted annually.

ABSENCES:

  • Sick leave shall be up to five days per calendar year and shall be accrued at the state mandated rate for the first year of employment.
  • Accrued sick leave may be used after the first month of employment and in increments of two hours.
  • Other unpaid time off shall be requested at least two weeks in advance via a written request emailed to the Worship Team Leader.
