Full Job Description
Position: Young Adult Ministry Coordinator
Reports To: The Pastor
Hours: 19 hours per week, including afternoon/evening and weekend hours
FSLA Status: Non-exempt

Purpose

The Young Adult Ministry (YAM) Coordinator manages, oversees and participates in all aspects of Young Adult Formation for Post High School to 39-year old parishioners. The coordinator strives to reach out and minister to young adults at the parish so as to draw them into responsible participation into the full life and mission of the Church. The coordinator should seek to connect young adults to Christ, His Church and a faith filled peer community by offering various social, service and spiritual opportunities.

Responsibilities:

YAM Coordinator has responsibilities which include (but are not limited to):

Identify, train and support parish leadership teams of young adults and volunteers who will implement the parish diocesan goals of young adult ministry
Plans and implements YAM activities which encompass a balance of spiritual, social and service events on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis
Develops a strategic vision and ongoing outreach plan to increase the participation of the young adults in wider parish programming and leadership
Directs the recruitment, training, evaluation, support and safe training of volunteers
Provides for the spiritual, formational, vocational, and social needs of the young adults
Promotes service opportunities through projects within the parish and the larger community
Creates, distributes and maintains the YAM Calendar, and provides social media outlets
Establishes a work schedule and publishes the hours of YAM events and activities
Is visible in the parish and community where young adults are present
Participates in preparation & management of parish advisory boards if necessary
Connects young adults in the parish to regional conferences, retreats, leadership development opportunities, and other diocesan young adult activities
Other duties as assigned
The Young Adult Coordinator works collaboratively with the parish staff and parish community by:

Upholding and supporting the mission of parish, as well as Faith Formation Catechetical plans
Participates in aspects of parish life through community, worship, catechesis and outreach
Fosters effective communication within and outside the parish
Continues personal faith development and professional development through learning opportunities at parish, Diocesan Office for Young Adult Ministry
Works closely with the youth and faith formation ministries to provide seamless support
Requirements & Skills:

Faithfully represents the teachings of the Catholic Church with integrity in word and action
A fully initiated and practicing Catholic with 2-4 years of ministry experience at the parish level
Ability to coordinate events and develop programs
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting and environment
Strong organizational and communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management
Valid California Driver’s License
Physical tasks include driving, stooping, bending, and setting up for events
Bachelors’ degree (or in progress of obtaining) preferred, but not necessary
