Position Title: Youth Minister
Hours: Fulltime, with some evenings and weekends
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Pastor

Position Summary
In collaboration with Pastor, the Youth Minister will plan, develop, implement and evaluate a bilingual program of Faith Formation (evangelization and catechesis) for Confirmation Preparation for children of High School age, making certain that all events and programs reflect sound Catholic teaching.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Recruits, develops and manages a core team to minister to the junior high and high school youth of the parish and who will develop and run the youth ministry program: meetings, retreats, socials etc.
Works collaboratively with the Coordinator of Faith Formation towards a whole life faith formation (evangelization and catechesis).
Advocates and fosters involvement of youth in the life of the parish, including serving on various parish committees, liturgies, and events.
Recruits and trains volunteers needed for programs: assistants, substitutes, team members, facilitators, sponsors. Conducts periodic meetings with your team.
Plans and coordinates Confirmation liturgies.
Serves as the record keeper of registration, attendance and recipients of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Ensures all volunteers have Safe Environment training and clearances. Monitors safety of youth, including presenting the Safe Environment program for youth.
Follows financial policies and prepares reports, budgets, deposits, check requests, and other financial administrative duties and documentation as applicable to the youth ministry budget.
Attends parish staff meetings. Updates Pastor of progress and/or issues with your program.
Ensures that the parish community is informed of Confirmation and Youth ministry events through the various channels of communication including parish bulletin, website, and social media.
Maintains continuous contact with the appropriate Diocesan offices. Keeps current on Diocesan support resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Must be a practicing Catholic with more than a basic knowledge and understanding of the Faith.
Must be familiar with Church documents and teaching related to Catechesis and Evangelization.
Must regularly participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
Bachelor’s degree or Youth ministry certification and/or experience in the field.
Native level bi-lingual (English/Spanish) spoken, written, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
Strong organizational skills, including time management, delegation, planning, budgeting and the ability to balance multiple projects at a time.
Highly self-motivated, creative and energetic.
