We are looking for an energetic, flexible, and highly organized team player who is excited to manage and nurture our volunteer program. The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for the following areas:

Local and short term volunteers, including: meal groups, individual kitchen and phone volunteers, and work groups
In-kind donation program, including organizing the annual holiday gift drive
Local community partners who provide services to our organization and establishing new community partners
Outreach about Christ House’s mission to local churches, schools and community organizations

Job Responsibilities

Serve as the organizational point of contact for all volunteer and in-kind donation inquiries
Actively recruit, orient, and place volunteer applicants
Coordinate short-term volunteer work groups
Oversee in-kind donation program, including the clothing room and solicitation of donations
Oversee and facilitate the annual holiday donation drive for Christ House and Kairos program members
Plan and facilitate the annual Volunteer Appreciation Night
Maintain up-to-date records of our volunteer base and develop a streamlined procedure for volunteer paperwork and communication
Provide monthly statistics on local volunteers and prepare reports for the monthly Finance Committee Meeting and the quarterly Board of Directors Meeting
Assist Development team in building a broader donor base and connecting donors to volunteer opportunities
Assist the Development team with communications through social media posts, e-newsletters, and printed newsletters
Publish monthly volunteer e-newsletter
Maintain and update volunteer and in-kind donation section of website including the Amazon wish list
Be available and willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays based on organizational needs and events
Assist Development with seeking out and applying for grant opportunities
Supervise and meet weekly with the part-time Volunteer Program Coordinator
Work alongside the Volunteer Program Coordinator to support the Year Long Volunteer program
Supervise and meet weekly with the Year Long Volunteer Activities Coordinator

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
2-4 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, and/or outreach
Excellent interpersonal skills; someone who sees the best in others and enjoys being with and around people
Experience and cultural competence working with historically oppressed peoples and a strategic understanding of social change
Proactive worker who takes initiative, can work independently and also knows when to collaborate
Strategic and creative thinker and a process-driven worker
Proven written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms. Constant Contact experience a plus but not required
Familiarity with the DC community a plus
A desire to work alongside and on behalf of men experiencing homelessness

This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position and salary is commensurable with experience.

Salary:
$45,000 – $50,000
