Coordinator of Clinical Pastoral Education - Office of Mission & Ministry

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's ministry provides physical and spiritual comfort to patients in the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, care of the whole person. Clinical Pastoral Education is interfaith professional education for ministry, bringing theological students and ministers of all faiths (pastors, priests, rabbi, imams and others) into supervised pastoral care encounters with persons in need.

The Coordinator of Clinical Pastoral Education , reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Mission and Pastoral Care, has duties that include but are not limited to:

Supervises and administers the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Level I, Level II, and Certified Educator Candidacy (CEC) programs sponsored by the department under the auspices of The Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
Provides clinical pastoral education, which is professional training for ministry within clinical settings, to approximately 11 Chaplain Residents and Interns, and a CPE Senior Chaplain Resident (CEC).
Maintains compliance with certification, accreditation and standards of the ACPE in conjunction with the Director of Mission and Pastoral Care.
Develops curriculum, supervises students' clinical work, provides educational opportunities, and evaluates students.
Assists the department with pastoral care ministry on units and with liturgical and sacramental needs as required, in the traditions of the Catholic Identity, the Ignatian concept of women and men for others, and the SPIRIT values of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH).
Participates as an integral member of the ministry team of Mission and Pastoral Care for MGUH; and interacts with the CPE students, MGUH clinical and administrative leadership, Mission and Pastoral Care Professional Advisory Committee, Georgetown University Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action (IDEAA), as well as local, regional, and national ACPE certified supervisors.

Qualifications

Master's level theological degree - Master of Divinity preferred
Certified and in good standing as an ACPE Educator or Associate ACPE Educator by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
At least 3 years of clinical training in chaplaincy and CPE supervision, ordination or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group
Maintains an Ecclesiastical endorsement by a recognized faith tradition
Preference for strong relational skills, ability to motivate others, and strong pastoral counseling skills
