JOB SUMMARY: The Dental Assistant 2 performs a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The position provides chair-side assistance to the dentists and/or hygienists.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare operatory for designated dental procedures; seat patient and review medical history.
Sterilize/disinfect dental operatories and instruments after each usage; set up the operatory for next patient.
Expose and process dental radiographs as needed.
Prepare dental cases for laboratory pick-up and keep a log of pending cases.
Serve as translator and interpreter for dentists who do not speak Spanish.
Follow all infection control procedures in treatment rooms and in the care of instruments.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalency.
DC/MD dental assistant level 1 or 2 certification.
Two (2) years’ experience working in a health care environment; preferably in a dental setting.
Experience working with the Latino community.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
Bilingual: English and Spanish.
Ability to identify priority issues.
Verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
