JOB SUMMARY: The Employment Specialist provides individualized, employment search and support to consumers in their efforts to secure and maintain competitive employment utilizing the Individual Placement and Support model (IPS). The position seeks and explores relationships with businesses that will provide possible competitive and permanent job opportunities for consumers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop relationships with diverse businesses to develop competitive and permanent job opportunities for consumers.
Orient consumers to the program and assist them in obtaining competitive employment in the community.
Complete intakes and ongoing vocational assessments with consumers as needed.
Maintain records (file) of all consumer employment activity as well as all potential and current employers.
Maintain and submit monthly records of supported employment activities, including performance standards, billing reports, consumer data collection, etc.
Refer all consumers to Rehabilitative Services and Administration (RSA) for additional job support and/or job training.
Establish constructive relationships with consumers to promote acquisition of employment goals.
Assist consumers in developing appropriate social networks on the job.
Document consumers’ progress in program records when services are provided as per the consumer’s treatment plan.
Meet with Supported Employment Team weekly to discuss issues/progress. Meet with Clinical Supervisor bi-weekly to review cases and documentation. Attend all other meetings, as required.
Ensure a billing average of 125 hours monthly over a 12-month period.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years direct service experience in a mental health setting with chronically mentally ill clients.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
Communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
Problem-solving skills.
Skill in the use of computer systems (preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment) and MS Office products.
