Paraprofessional/ Teacher Aide: St. Mary of the Mills School in Laurel, MD is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide to work with teachers and students in a K-8 setting. The Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide works collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide targeted instruction. Under the direction of the teacher, the Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide will work with students individually or in small groups and may supervise the whole class during non-instructional periods; including lunch and recess.

The Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide must be prepared to assist with morning drop off, recess, lunch supervision, and afternoon pick up each day. Preference will be given to applicants with: Experience in working with young children will be given preference. An Associate's or Bachelors's degree in education or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated success with working with students in a structured environment such as an after-school program, summer camp, or school environment. Job Skills & Responsibilities: Ability to adjust to the weather and various work environments while supervising students in a variety of settings including indoor and outdoor recess, lunch, morning arrival, and dismissal. An ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers.Ability to follow the directions of the classroom teacher.Ability to establish positive working relationships with students and staff, supervisors, and co-workers.Ability to work effectively with individual students or small groups of students.Ability to supervise students in structured and unstructured activities.Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff using written and oral communication techniques.Ability to organize, record, and maintain student records as assigned by the classroom teacher.Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.Proficiency in basic use of computers including, but not limited to, email and the internet.Ability to adapt to changes in the demands associated with the needs of the school.
