The resource aide plays a key role in the education and development of scholars at St. Thomas MoreCatholic Academy. The primary role of this aide is to offer scholars additional support and guidance, especially in the area of mathematics and reading.The ideal resource aide has a strong understanding of math through Algebra 1 and has prior experience working with special education scholars.He/she assists classroom educators by working with individuals and small groups to promote the understanding of concepts and the retention of skills learned, maintaining and enforcing school norms, and participating in the day to day management of the classroom. He/she is organized, detail-oriented, patient, and positive.
Dedicated to the development of each scholar as a whole, the resource aide demonstrates a willingness to lead his/her scholars academically, socially, and spiritually.Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions*)Provides support during implementation of lessons and assessmentsWorks with individual students and small groups to provide academic support, especially in the areas of math and readingEffectively communicates with educators and administrative staff regarding scholar progressMaintains a safe classroom through strong, supportive classroom managementParticipates in weekly collaboration meetings with other faculty membersMonitors scholars during lunch and recess as assignedAttends continuing education classes/professional development opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge and skillsSupports, implements, and enhances the Catholic identity of the schoolFosters the continued faith development and formation of scholars* To comply with regulations by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the principal duties in job descriptions must be essential to the job.
