DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and School Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) faith formation program for young children. Part time 15-20hrs a week

  • Coordinate the religious education instruction for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd students in the school and parish.
  • Collaborate with Early Childhood Formation Coordinator
  • Oversee and serve as a teacher in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program
  • Help recruit and maintain CGS Catechists
  • Serve as a resource to volunteer CGS catechists; host in-services as required
  • Help promote and advertise the CGS program with parish and school communications
  • Clean and organize the CGS Atriums
  • Check paperwork in all atriums and refill as necessary
  • Coordinate the repair any broken/missing items - as needed
  • Purchase items needed for the atrium like candles, wine, colored pencils, paper, cleaning supplies as well as seasonal items for Pentecost/Easter etc…
  • Set up the atrium for change in the liturgical season. Larger set-ups needed for Advent, Celebration of Light (after Christmas), Lent, Liturgy of the Light (after Easter) and Pentecost.
  • Check in with catechists to make sure they have everything they need for their classes.
  • Troubleshoot any problems the catechists see in the atrium.
  • Train service students in the school to help with the paperwork and organization of the atriums.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and Training in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Level II B preferred)
  • Experience in education and curriculum development preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with students and parents
  • A willingness to pursue continuing education
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Catholic tradition and its gift of sacraments
  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and full assent to all magisterial teaching.
  • Has a passion for evangelization, catechesis, and family life and helping others to know, love, and serve God and follow Jesus Christ as missionary disciples.
  • Sets an example of integrity, accountability, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the kerygma in a variety of ministry settings.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Successfully complete standard Archdiocesan background check.
  • Proficiency with office technology, copiers, and electronic communications.
  • Proficiency with GSuite, Google Apps, Microsoft Office, and Flocknote preferred.
