ABOUT US

The Church of St. Frances Cabrini is a progressive urban Catholic community with strong traditions of inclusivity and social action. Located in Southeast Minneapolis, the parish draws membership from across the Twin Cities metro area. The parish has 400 registered households and about 120 members aged preschool through high school (not all active in parish programming). We seek an attentive and creative faith formation coordinator(s) to aid our community in living out our mission (full-time position equals 30 hours). Familiarity with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program is desired, and being a team player is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Program Planning and Direction

Plan, direct, and assess comprehensive faith formation curriculum for preschool through high school, including sacramental catechesis.
Select catechetical materials for classroom and home catechesis, together with pastor and Lifelong Faith Formation Committee.
Communicate program aims and expectations for participating families and the parish at large.
Support planning, implementation, and assessment of adult faith formation programming.
Coordinate faith formation within the life of the parish, including its liturgies, social action, community life and prayer life.
Serve as the staff representative on the Lifelong Faith Formation Committee and consult and collaborate with that committee in directing the faith formation programming.
Collaborate with other faith communities in providing faith formation programming and/or social activities.

2. Catechist Training and Supervision

Recruit, select, train, oversee, and evaluate catechists.
Provide for spiritual support and growth for catechists through retreats and other opportunities.

3. Serve as Safe Environments Coordinator for parish

Guide and track the progress of all who are required to be credentialed or recredentialed under the Archdiocesan Safe Environments Program.
Ensure that all events at the parish follow policies and best practices for the safety of children and youth.
Share safe environment information with parents, parishioners and others.
Conduct and track personal safety lessons for children and youth.
Report annually to the Archdiocesan Office for the Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY) regarding compliance with the Essential 3 (E3) and children and youth safety lesson requirements.

4. Serve as Member of the Parish Staff

Be present, on time and ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities. Includes recognizing when situations require more effort, seeking approval to put in more time if needed, satisfying responsibilities in a timely manner, providing an example of punctuality and attendance, and generally ensuring all is ready and taken care of.
Actively participate in staff meetings and trainings.
Attend meetings within the parish which involve Faith Formation.
Collaborate with other parish ministries to ensure coordinated operation of parish activities.

5. Administrative Duties

Prepare annual Lifelong Faith Formation budgets and monitor throughout the year.
Promote and publicize programs and events that make up Cabrini’s Lifelong Faith Formation program.
Report the number of students involved in the activities, both Faith Formation and social, to the staff on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS

(Preferred)

Active, participating Catholic with comprehensive knowledge of the Catholic faith in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, including sacred scripture, sacraments and liturgy, personal morals, and Catholic Social Teaching.
Familiarity with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program
Teaching experience in some part of the preschool through high school age span.
Knowledge and experience in curriculum planning, program coordination, and program assessment.
Strong teamwork and team building skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Competent in word processing and communication software, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize computer applications used in the Cabrini workplace, such as ParishSoft Family Suite (parish membership software) and Faith Connector (church calendar and scheduling software).
Meet legal and archdiocesan requirements to serve young children, including passing of a background check, completing Virtus training, and signing a Code of Conduct (E3 credentials)
Strong organizational skills; motivated and self-directed
Ability to supervise volunteers and manage budgets
Commitment to ongoing personal spiritual formation
