Supports and implements discipleship programs for the university through engaged mentoring and training for discipleship leaders.

Responsibilities

:

  • Contribute to planning and implementation of pre-semester and in-semester training for discipleship leaders (Shift, Dinner Church, athletic teams, and other discipleship initiatives). 
    • Set training schedule, training content, retreat topics, etc. 
    • Facilitate training sessions as assigned. 
    • Plan and deliver retreats as assigned.
  • Coach, support, equip, and provide accountability to Discipleship Team Leaders. - Communicate weekly with all Shift Leaders or other discipleship group leaders regarding timely program expectations, updates, etc. 
    • Meet biweekly with Shift Team Leaders or others for mentoring, accountability, check-ins, etc. 
    • Troubleshoot with Team Leaders any problems Shift Leaders or other discipleship group leaders are encountering.
    • Attend evening programming as needed to support discipleship ministries.
    • Consult with and receive direction from Campus Pastor for Spiritual Formation and Care.
  • Assist with planning of large campus discipleship events:
    • Fall & Spring Kickoffs
    • Leader Christmas Party
    • Footwashing Events
    • Leader Yearend Celebration
  • Support the Campus Pastor for Spiritual Formation and Care on spring hiring initiatives including: 
    • Promotion 
    • Interviews
    • Selection of Leaders

Required Skills

:

  • Solid evangelical theological foundation and passion for ministry in an intellectually curious academic community. 
  • High degree of cultural awareness and cultural competence with an ability to work effectively across cultural differences. 
  • Ability to implement a strategic vision for discipleship across the university.
  • Ability to write and develop curriculum for robust campus-wide discipleship ministry which resources student leaders, faculty, and co-curricular partners.
  • Must be a self-starter, administratively savvy, and able to organize large events, seminars, forums, debates, retreats, small groups, leadership trainings and all other functions of various ministries. 
  • Effective preacher and teacher with skillful biblical exegesis. 
  • Ability to integrate discipleship into the wide and varied life of our college campus, developing a seamless, complimentary student experience that fosters growth into Christ’s image.

Required Experience

:

Some experience in ministry position in a church or college ministry setting required; college and young adult ministry or development preferred.

Required Education

:

Bachelor’s Degree required.
