Visitation School is seeking an Middle School Social Studies Teacher for the remaining part of the 2022-23 school year. The person in this role will teach one section of MN History, one section of Geography, two sections of American History, and two sections of World History from December 2022 through the remaining part of the school year. The position is 100% FTE, and the student-contact day for this position runs from 7:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Visitation is an independent Catholic day school serving a coed Lower School (Montessori preschool through grade 5), an all-girls Middle School (grades 6-8), and an all-girls Upper School (grades 9-12); we are located in Mendota Heights, MN.
The ideal candidate for the Middle School Social Studies Long-Term Substitute role:
Is a lifelong learner who is passionate about the educational experiences of adolescent girls.
Has demonstrated success as a Social Studies educator with Middle School students.
Possesses a strong grasp of current instructional practices, curricular trends, and pedagogy within social science education.
Enjoys and has demonstrated success working with students, families and colleagues in an independent school.
Has a strong desire to contribute actively to a community where students are known, loved, and challenged, and excited to embrace the Visitation mission.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and previous experience in a K-12 school. Experience in an independent school or an advanced degree are preferred.
