JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

The Missions Coordinator pursues excellence in promoting and representing Praying Pelican Missions to organizations, trip participants, and international and domestic partners, so that God may be glorified and people may come to know Him through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The Missions Coordinator will teach and spread the Christian faith by leading prayers and devotion, reading scripture, and leading in ministry, while demonstrating PPM's mission of partnership with the local Christian church in serving others and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

 

Area #1: Missions Recruiting & Consulting

Supporting Goal: Recruit and plan for groups to participate in PPM mission trips, which will further encourage and equip Christians in their walk with Christ.

 

Performance Standards:

  1. Develop a personal database of potential recruiting leads through Mission Control (PPM online database).
    1. Leads come from personal contacts, churches visited, lists provided by PPM, renewals from past groups, referrals, conventions, etc.
  2. Regularly add new leads to the database and keep the database updated with a follow-up plan for each lead.
  3. Develop and contact sufficient number of leads to meet each monthly and yearly team recruiting and contact number goals.
  4. Work in conjunction with supervisor to develop goals for phone, emails, personal visits, conventions leads, renewals, and personal leads.
  5. Meet recruiting/commission goals by having groups register with PPM.
  6. Contact the group leaders assigned to you on a regular basis to assist in their trip preparations.
  7. Contact the group leaders in the month leading up to the trip to answer last minute questions and go over in detail the trip plans.
  8. Coordinate logistics with the local leadership and ensure the week's itinerary achieves the goals of our host partner.
  9. Set up each trip in conjunction with the Manager of that specific location. Take care of all details of the trip and in a timely fashion communicate these details to all teams you'll be leading.
  10. Endeavor to attend all conference calls, recruiting meetings, trainings, etc. that are scheduled.

 

Area #2: Trip Leader

Supporting Goal: Provide mission teams with a top quality, Christ-centered experience.

 

Performance Standards:

  1. Be a flexible, team first member of the Praying Pelican Missions staff and accept direction from the Location Operations leader.
  2. Make advance (set up) preparations for each trip.
  3. Coordinate ministry activities with identified partners in location.
  4. Ensure all delegations to successfully lead a mission trip are conducted with excellence and in a timely manner.
  5. Train PPM leadership team members in their various delegation areas. Encourage them to grow as Christian leaders and set them up to succeed while ensuring the overall goals of the trip are met .
  6. Follow the Policy Agreement and Standards and Guidelines set forth by PPM.
  7. See that all leadership team members and participants follow the listed guidelines on each trip as identified, respectively, in the leadership team handbook and agreement forms.

 

Area #3: Location Delegations

Supporting Goal: Assist operations leadership in carrying out established location goals

 

Ministry

  • Facilitate and maintain host pastor partnerships
  • Network to add new pastors & partners
  • Provide regular encouragement and communication with seasonal staff
  • Participate in staff training to provide ministry vision & follow-up
  • Take ownership of host pastor and staff reviews (them reviewing PPM)
  • Potential be involved in seasonal staff and pastors' conference

 

Operations

  • Negotiate key food, lodging, transportation costs each year
  • Provide input with location budgeting
  • Conduct timely expense report management
  • Network with other ministries
  • Maintain current data in Roots database

 

Consulting

  • Facilitate information shared by host partners to teams
  • Support PPM consulting goals
  • Manage retention of teams/participants

 

Recruiting

  • Manage renewal strategy and follow through
  • Develop recruiting goals with PPM recruiting leader
  • Supply marketing team with content

 

Area #4: Position Management

Supporting Goal: Further develop spiritual, interpersonal and organizational skills to equip you to partner with PPM in furthering the Kingdom of God and serving our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Performance Standards:

  1. Be an advocate for Praying Pelican Missions and its employees. Promote a positive image of PPM, build trust and rapport with all staff members, and be an affirming and encouraging team member at all times.
  2. Spend time daily in prayer and in scripture for PPM and all the avenues PPM covers.
  3. Attend all major PPM staff events, including the spring conference, department meetings, training events and mandatory all-staff meetings.
  4. Participate in a yearly review meeting with supervisor.
  5. Meet or talk regularly with supervisor to enhance communications and allow for input and coordination to promote success with assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Complete monthly performance reporting as directed.
  6. Participate in PPM scheduled recruiting meetings in person or via conference call.
  7. Participate in regularly scheduled Foundation and Prayer calls.

 

Area #5: Fundraising

Supporting Goal: Grow PPM and your own support system through financial contributions.

 

Performance Standards:

  1. Develop and encourage support for PPM programs and priorities through strong Christian witness among colleagues, mission participants, ministry partners and the general public.
  2. Work closely with Fundraising Lead to create and maintain fundraising plan respective to your personal budget and needs.
  3. Maintain a management plan for this position that ensures your success and includes annual, quarterly and monthly plans of action.
  4. Operate within the personnel guidelines of Praying Pelican Missions.
  5. Compile list of prospects and add to it as more come to mind (friends, relatives, church family, neighbors, school contacts, service professionals, work associates, etc.).
  6. Communicate regularly with supporters and prospects via personal contact, letters, social media, personal blog, etc., keeping them informed of your mission activities and events to keep them engaged and experiencing the Christian work of PPM.
  7. Use resources such as marketing materials effectively and prudently in accordance with the yearly budget.
  8. Track fundraising efforts and adjust plan as appropriate based on successes and challenges.
  9. Work closely with Finance department to coordinate distribution of fundraised dollars tailored to your results.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's or Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from accredited college or university, or a minimum of two years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies or equivalent strongly preferred.

 

General understanding of, or experience in, short term missions environment beneficial.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information to church organizations, leaders and public groups. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the church and business community.

 

Fluent spoken and written English required. Written and conversational skill level of primary in-location language(s) strongly preferred.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
