Looking for: Woodlake Lutheran Church, Richfield is looking for a worship leader to launch a new worship service called Modern Worship.  This worship leader will handle many of the moving parts of the worship planning process from preparing music and arrangements, leading a worship band, to assisting with imagery and other creative elements.  Strong vocal gifts and instrumental talents are required.

Reports to: Woodlake Co-Pastors

Hours/Salary: Part-time 5-10hrs per week/ 15-20k annually, depending on experience

Role Summary: The person in this role will lead the bands, perform, adapt and compose music for weekly Woodlake services as well as any special events/services, ensuring the Woodlake’s vision is carried throughout.

RESPONSIBILITES

Manage Musicians

  • Build relationship, trust, and cohesiveness within a band
  • Create and distribute charts to each musician
  • Schedule and lead all band/musician rehearsals
  • Collaborate on and create new music for Woodlake
  • Manage and navigate interpersonal conflicts as they arise
  • Clear and timely communication (both written and oral)
  • Lead auditions, as needed

Worship and Event Planning

  • Plan, choose, and coordinate music, which fits with the desired theme for each service, service series, church season, and events
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Pastor, Communication Director, and any volunteers
  • Schedule and organize additional musical outreach events, concerts, and gigs at the discretion of the Pastor and Music Director
  • Schedule and lead meetings/training, as needed
  • Carry Woodlake’s vision in and outside the doors of Woodlake

Enhance the Worship Experience

  • Ensure each service includes a welcome that draws people in and fluidly transitions between aspects of each service
  • Encourage congregational participation in the music
  • Show flexibility, step in, or adapt, as needed
  • Support and assist in rolling out any changes made to the structure of the overall service(s), as determined by the Pastor

SKILLS, EXPECTATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Passionate about leading music, playing music, and about sharing it with Woodlake
  • Degree in Music (preferred but not required)
  • Previous experience leading a band
  • Must sing and be proficient with an instrument
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Exhibit flexibility
  • Strength in punctuality
  • Understands role is a “ministry”
