DESCRIPTION
The Totino-Grace High School Resident Assistants are responsible for Assisting the Residence Center Director with the overall management of the dormitory. The main responsibilities include supporting:
- Safety and well-being of the students
- Creation of a positive dormitory atmosphere
- Facilitation of student development
- Building a sense of community in the dormitory
Full-Time/Part-Time/Benefits:
- .7 FTE (approximately 24-28 hours/week) – Not-Benefit Eligible
- Room and Board + Hourly Wage
General Responsibilities:
- Supervise dormitory residents
- Assist in providing an environment that's safe, friendly and comfortable
- Prepare students for each day's activities through informational sessions
- Work closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all staff members
- Monitor and ensure appropriate student behavior
- Attend all staff training sessions and meetings as directed
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dormitory Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate Qualities:
- Talented, self-motivated young men and women interested in working with high school students living in the TG Residence Center.
- Candidates who are available to supervise dorm students during several shifts per week, including weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Candidates with interest in creating activities for students, assisting with homework, serving as a positive and respectful role model, mentoring students and creating and maintaining a safe and disciplined “home” environment.
- Candidates who are available to work both weekdays and weekends. Candidates should also expect to be available on non-school days when the dormitory is open, including some school vacations and holidays.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two years of college or related dormitory experience
- Strong interest and experience working with adolescents
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- An ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team
- Interest or experience working and living with teenagers.
- Knowledge of various cultures and their customs
- Knowledge or experience serving in a multicultural environment.
- Interest in living and working in community
- Valid US driver’s license required. Ability to drive up to a 12 passenger van.
