The Public Safety Officer position at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis ensures a safe and supportive environment for the congregation’s members, staff, and guests. The Public Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring the building and occupants, and for responding to and appropriately managing crisis and emergency situations. Primary responsibilities include monitoring the property and occupants, completing rounds, monitoring cameras, and controlling building access. Ability to safely recognize and quickly respond to crisis situations; deescalating and utilizing the least restrictive approach is required.

• Security experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Must be available to work various shifts - weekend & evening hours necessary.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills are required.
• Must be able to follow written & verbal instructions, communicate well, and work with people in need.
• High standards regarding confidentiality and integrity.
• Responsible to provide a safe environment for all church staff, members, and guests.
• Provide a safe environment during events.
• Patrols designated areas according to established procedures and documents patrols.
• Accountable to the overall mission of the church and maintaining collegial relationships with staff, board members, colleagues, guests, and the congregation in general.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of members, staff, and guests; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers and supervisors.
• Perform other responsibilities and duties as needed/assigned.
• Authorization to work in the US and Background check are required.
