Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator

Objectives:

The Youth and Family Ministries Coordinator, under the supervision of the Lead Pastor, is responsible for coordinating and leading programs for children (Kindergarten thru 5th grade), youth (6th grade-12th grade), and families; and coordinating care in the nursery. This role is part-time (estimated at 18-20 hours/ week).

Qualifications:

● Previous experience in children’s and/ or youth ministry
● Willing and able to recruit and train volunteers
● Experience in teaching and developing curriculum for multiple age groups
● Must possess good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
● Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
● Must be motivated to work with volunteers
● A degree in ministry preferred

Responsibilities:

1. Youth Ministry (6th grade - 12th grade):

● Work with pastor and ministry team to determine mission and vision of youth program

● Create a consistent and relationally focused weekly program

● Provide avenues for faith development and exploration

● Prioritize one-on-one relationship development for mentoring

● Plan and lead service projects

● Plan and lead yearly mission trip

● Recruit and train volunteers

● Utilize social media and other platforms to enhance connection and expand reach of youth program

2. Children’s Ministry (Kindergarten - 5th grade):

● Work with pastor and ministry team to determine mission and vision of children’s program

● Create a consistent and relationally focused weekly program

● Find and/ or develop curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and inclusive (gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status)

● Prioritize family (parent/ guardian) involvement and resourcing

● Recruit and train volunteers

3. Nursery (Birth - Pre-K):

● Work with Administrative Assistant to recruit and train nursery staff using MN Annual

Conference Background and Safe Gathering protocols

● Find and/ or develop curriculum that is developmentally appropriate (for pre-K)

● Maintain functionality of nursery space

4. Family Ministry:

● Work with pastor on a vision and plan for family ministry

● Coordinate monthly family game nights

● Resource families with helpful material

● Utilize social media to expand reach of family ministries
