Job Purpose: To focus on the evangelization of youth and young adults through faith formation, sacramental preparation, service and social opportunities. An emphasis will be placed on spiritual development, discipleship, and social skill-building within the parish community.
Representative Responsibilities: To be present and ready to work for all scheduled hours.
In addition to be responsible for the following:
Sacrament of Confirmation
Coordination of sponsor and parent programming for Confirmation
Communicate effectively with families and candidates through multi-media
Plan, coordinate and implement retreats for Confirmation 1 and 2 candidates (grades 9 & 10)
Organize service ministry opportunities for Confirmation candidates within and outside of the parish
Help coordinate liturgical opportunities for Confirmation candidates
Youth Ministry
Development, implementation and supervision of Middle school and Senior High youth group activities on and off campus
Communicate effectively with youth and their families about upcoming events
Recruit and train youth leaders for social functions, Core Team, retreats and peer ministry
Responsible for maintaining safe environment in the Youth Room
Faith Formation
Coordination of the Middle School Faith Formation program grades 6-8
Plan, organize and facilitate the Summer Stretch program
Assist the Director in the recruitment and training of catechists
Assist the Director with implementation of the parish plans for Whole Community and Catechetical events
Administrative
Teach PCYI (Protection of Children and Youth Initiative) lessons and ensure that all catechists have Essential 3 (background check, VIRTUS and Code of Conduct) components
Staff liaison to Youth Advisory Group
Help maintain accurate records for Confirmation Candidates
Attend Staff meetings
Mission Trips
Guide the selection process of the mission trip location and advertise the trip
Recruit and Essential 3 qualify all adults who will be chaperones for the trip
Oversee fundraising for the trip
Guide all aspects of the trip following safe environment policies
Other Responsibilities: includes other responsibilities identified as needed by the employee and approved and/or assigned by pastor. Employee must maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job Qualifications:
4-year college degree
Experience in working with youth and young adults
Experience in working with volunteers
Willingness to participate in on-going education
Computer skills
Email, internet and social media literacy
Practicing Catholic
Mental Demands:
Willingness to work collaboratively
Flexibility
Ability to work in noisy environment
Enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work without supervision, but obtaining direction when needed.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to assist with room set-ups
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must be able to participate actively in youth activities
