This position is responsible for managing the operations of American Lutheran Church of Sun City (ALC) in the areas of office management, information technology, facilities, risk management and security. Supervises other staff members and works closely and in harmony with the Senior Pastor, church council and parishioners to support the mission of the church. It is a salaried position.

This position must possess and display the following characteristics:

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Three years’ experience in Church Administration or similar
  • Associates degree in business or accounting, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in religious studies or non-profit
  • Strong computer skills including MS Outlook and Office Suite, Realm program a plus

The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and be able to foster and maintain a welcoming, service orientation with staff.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Maintain a close and cordial working relationship with the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee
  • Work with the Accounting Assistant to develop the annual church budget
  • Approve purchases in areas of responsibility up to spending authority limit
  • Ensure timely mailings of Outreach newsletter, weekly What’s Happening at ALC publication, quarterly and annual statements and other special mailings for church and committees or groups as needed. (This includes reviewing/proofreading/editing all publications sent out from ALC, as well as ensuring that the church website, social media, and public announcements are accurate and updated as appropriate)
  • Oversee efficient administration of church statistics, records and data bases
  • Ensure church and building security procedures are followed
  • Oversee church’s website, social media, and public announcements with Administrative Assistant/Media Coordinator
  • Act as backup for Accounting Assistant for timesheet processing and data entry into the payroll system
  • Maintain records and transactions concerning the Columbarium
  • Maintain new member list and organize new member classes
  • Coordinate and assist as necessary with scheduling and coordinating church functions such as funerals and memorials, weddings, special events etc.
  • Ensure that church records (Excel spreadsheets) regarding deaths & memorial information are maintained
  • Ensure timely acknowledgement of gifts and memorials
  • Organize Staff meetings
  • Coordinate weekly Intercessor’s meetings
  • Ensure the recording of attendance and communion participation
  • Ensure the ordering and distribution of offering envelopes
  • Assist with front desk function if/as needed
  • Evaluate office efficiency and make suggestions as appropriate
  • Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and tracking of vacation and sick leave times of all staff (including pastors) as per policy and procedure
  • Ensures proper work schedules are assigned for supervised staff
  • Ensures that time sheets are turned in, reviewed, and processed appropriately and timely
  • Be the primary contact for vendors/suppliers to the church
  • Oversee contracts with vendors, ensures that contractual provisions are adhered to and proper authorizations are obtained for any new contracts or changes to existing ones
  • Oversees contracts for maintenance of office equipment and software programs
  • Acts as liaison for ALC Computer Tech support
  • Maintain personnel records
  • Be knowledgeable concerning the provisions of the ALC Employee Handbook and ensure that they are adhered to by staff
  • Provides general support for committees and ministry activities as required
  • Work with the Personnel Committee and Senior Pastor to develop additional policies, procedures, and staff positions as may be deemed appropriate
  • Review Insurance policies with Finance Committee to ensure adequate coverages
  • Ensure security/emergency call buttons are available in the Sanctuary during services and at the Front Desk
  • Ensure that weekly prayer concern info is current & sent out to pastoral staff (to be forwarded as appropriate to Care Team and Prayer Chain)
  • Document incidents and injuries that occur on the church campus, ensure that they are reported if/as appropriate and that documentation is maintained

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
