Purpose and Scope:
The Coordinator of Faith Formation and Family Ministry collaborates with the Pastor to develop and implement strategies for all faith formation efforts and family ministry in the parish. This position will coordinate with the staff and ministries of the parish to re-focus their purpose and efforts into the mission of the Church. The Coordinator of Faith Formation and Family Ministry will assist with the formation of parishioners including married couples, families, young adults, and older adults, and will oversee any related sacramental preparation.

Coordinates all adult faith formation and family ministries of the parish, ensuring they are in accord with the teaching and mission of the Catholic Church and the parish
OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults)

o collaborates with existing team of OCIA leaders to coordinate this program

o performs interviews with OCIA participants

o in charge of documentation for OCIA participants

o Responds to inquiries from those interested in the Catholic faith

o Provides for the integration of neophytes into the life of the parish community

o In conjunction with the clergy, responds to the concerns of Catholics that are inactive or alienated

Married Couples

o Implements and oversees spiritual formation and enrichment programs for married couples

Families

o Implements and oversees spiritual formation and enrichment programs for families

Young Adults

o Implements and oversees spiritual formation and fellowship program for young adults

Older Adults

o Implements and oversees spiritual formation and enrichment program for older adults

Discovering Christ

o Implements and oversees the Discovering Christ program, working with the team of volunteers to coordinate

Coordinates with and assists other ministry leaders with their faith formation and evangelization efforts (including, but not limited to, Parish Missions and bible studies)
Meets regularly with pastor and other faith formation staff in an ongoing evaluation of events and strategies to meet the spiritual needs of the parish community
In coordination with other staff, helps coordinate an annual spiritual retreat for parish staff and clergy
Collaborates with the pastor, staff, and ministries to establish a culture of evangelization, stewardship, and discipleship in the parish
Collaborates with diocesan personnel and staff from other parishes to advance Faith formation efforts in the parish and around the diocese
Timely communicates and maintains updated Faith Formation staff and volunteers procedures, teachings, etc. from the Church (Vatican, USCCB, and Diocese of Phoenix) in regard to catechesis and evangelization
Plans and administers the budget for all adult Faith formation and family ministry efforts, in coordination with the Parish Manager
Answers ministry correspondence in a timely manner (emails, letters, telephone calls, etc.)
Completes any other position-related tasks as deemed necessary by the Pastor

Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Exercises independent and competent judgment in making decisions relating to job responsibilities
Possesses effective communication, administrative, and ministerial skills
Knowledge of all diocesan guidelines and procedures
Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Possesses excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Maintain standards of confidentiality
Ability to work independently as well as in a team
Weekly work schedule (approx. 40 hours) consists mostly of Monday – Friday (some weekends and evenings will be required)
Maintains strong relationships with pastor, parish staff, ministries, and the parish community

Minimum Qualifications:
Active member of a Roman Catholic parish/faith community in good standing with the Church
Willing and able to support the mission of the Church, the Pastor, and the Diocese of Phoenix
Possesses strong knowledge of Catholic teaching and practice
Education: Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in a field related to Catholic Theology/Catechesis/Formation/Ministry
Experience: Minimum four years’ experience in increasingly responsible ministry positions

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some overnight travel may be necessary. Additionally, some filing is required, and this would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
