GENERAL OVERVIEW

The VIP Coordinator will help identify, assimilate, and advocate for all children with special needs throughout the CsKids ministry as they develop a team of volunteers and collaborate with the Directors of Early Childhood, Elementary, and KaBoom. The VIP Coordinator will provide hands on leadership during all Sunday services and Mid-week CsKids programming. They will utilize the VIP Placement form as a guide to work through any individualized plans for our children with special needs, in partnership with the ministry Directors. The coordinator will develop a volunteer team and train them in proper practices and techniques that will equip them to provide quality care in a safe, Christ-centered environment in order to provide the best church experience possible for our children with special needs utilizing our 3 service areas: the VIP Classroom, the “Buddy” program, and/or resource support. The VIP Coordinator will also be a resource for our parents whose children are in the program.

This person will provide their team with leadership, coaching and communication. This position requires a person who is a self-starter, team builder, able to multi-task, problem solve, and provide leadership in the area of Special Needs’ practices and protocols. This person should be able to organize thoughts and details into written and spoken word, function in a calm and collected manner in potentially volatile situations while calming the situation down, and work well with a variety of people. They should have some formal education or the equivalent of experience in their specific area of ministry. They should understand the basic spiritual, moral, physical, emotional, and cognitive development of the children in their specific group.

This person should lead by example and cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family. They should represent Christ and His church well in the community at large. They should be a team player and follow the biblical model of sacrifice by being willing to put the needs of others in front of their own. In all of their actions, they should be positive and supportive of the Doctrine, Core Values, and the Vision of our church.

This position is 15 hours per week including Sundays

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership:

  • Recruit, assimilate, train, and develop new volunteers
  • Facilitate the placement of children with special needs into one of our 3 service areas: VIP Class, Buddy program, or resource option
  • Inform volunteers and families about latest practices or upcoming events/programs

Coaching:

  • Implement the policies and procedures of the ministry into your area and oversee that the health, safety and guest services protocol are followed by your volunteers.
  • Ensure that your area/team provides an aesthetically pleasing, safe and welcoming environment.
  • Oversee the classroom supplies, facility resources and equipment of the VIP Classrooms/area.
  • Successfully develop and nurture relationships with the CsKids Staff, volunteer team, parents, and the paid staff of the church.

Communication:

  • Provide communication about ministry events, policies, updates, and highlights to volunteers and parents through phone calls, emails, and/or monthly strategies.
  • Appreciate volunteers through words of affirmation, gifts, phone calls, emails, and written notes.
