Awaken Church to host conference for female members

Awaken Church encouraged its female members to prepare for the upcoming Cherish Conference this year from Thursday to Saturday, Oct. 6 to 8, at Harrah’s Resort.

The church’s website announced that the conference is for each woman to take their relationship with God to the next level. They added that those who participated in the Cherish Conference had a life-changing experience. 

Besides, they mentioned that women could realize their purpose during the gathering. The Awaken Church emphasized that scripture in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that says, “For as many as are the promise of God, they all find their Yes in Christ.”

Conference Highlights

Moreover, the church highlighted that for this year’s conference, they have the privilege to listen to Ps. Leanne Mettthesius, Kim Walker-Smith, and Aubrey Matthesius. They also mentioned that Karen Shackelford, Katy Yeager, and Morgan Ervin would speak at the event.

The website emphasized that their conference is well known for having the world’s best messengers. They added that they give their all to make their speakers one of the features of this event.

Knowing Kim Walker-Smith

According to the Cherish Women website, Smith is the worship leader at Jesus Culture band while pursuing her solo career. They added that she is a part of the youth outreach ministry. 

As further explained, she had her first recording in 2006 on the first Hesys Culture Music release, “Everything.” After two years, the website said her first solo album, “Here is My Song,” was aired. 

They revealed that when Smith moved to Redding, California, for college, she started attending the Bethel Church. In 1999, the church appointed her to lead the worship and launched Jesus Culture Ministry. 

Guest Speaker

The Cherish Women highlighted Karen Shackelford, their guest speaker for this year’s women's gathering. They emphasized that she is a three-time cancer survivor. She is also an author of “The Good Stuff Girl” blog.

As further explained, Shackelford believes she is a natural miracle after overcoming the huge fibroid tumor in her uterus when she was 21. Then, at 42, the website stressed that she survived Stage three breast cancer. 

When she was 48, she suffered from a thyroid crash, as added on the website. 

After all, she has been through, Shackelford started her “real health journey.” She became passionate about learning about food, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle. She said she began this journey to protect her husband and children.

In addition, the website noted that she wanted more time to take care of her children and love her husband. They added that Shackelford desires to inspire others with difficulties with their health.

Conference Schedule

The same website posted that women participants would have their welcome party reception at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. Then they would start the first session.

The next day, they said there would be morning and evening sessions. The women would enjoy an after-party, as noted on the website. 

As for the last day, the website featured the Cherish 5k run event and the “Doors open” program. As further mentioned, they would end that conference by having the final session.
