Calvary San Diego embraces Easter with a series of activities for the whole family. Beginning on April 9, Calvary San Diego will celebrate the resurrection of Christ by engaging families in fun and exciting ways.
Easter at Calvary
Calvary San Diego commemorates Jesus rising from the dead through a weeklong series of events. The church will gather in honor of Resurrection Sunday, April 9 until 17.
As per its webpage, the activities include Special Needs Egg Hunt, Good Friday Picnic, and Easter at Calvary San Diego with Jeremy Camp.
Special Needs Egg Hunt
This one is a special event for the special ones. This Egg Hunt is organized for children with special needs. Calvary San Diego encourages parents to bring their children to this free event.
The Special Needs Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 9 at Calvary San Diego and Cottonwood Park. It will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. According to the church calendar, this is a family-centered activity that provides an opportunity for active participation for children with various limitations or disabilities.
Registration is required for Special Needs Egg Hunt.
Good Friday Picnic
Another activity welcoming Easter is Good Friday Picnic. Calvary San Diego will gather in the amphitheater at Mountain Hawk Park on April 15. Those who plan on joining the Good Friday Picnic are instructed to bring the elements of communion with their picnic supplies.
The event will begin with a time for word and worship at 6 p.m. Calvary San Diego encourages members to bring along a friend or family member who isn’t quite prepared to enter its church building.
Easter Experience with Jeremy Camp
Calvary San Diego ends its celebration on a Sunday with Jeremy Camp. The band will lead worship during its Easter services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Jeremy Camp, Special Guest
According to the Jeremy Camp website, the singer accompanied his father to local prison or boy’s home to minister through words and music. His father established a church when he was 14.
Jeremy Camp released his first internally distributed album in 2002 – Stay. Then, in 2003 six songs from this album reached the top of the Christian singles chart, and the first song he wrote for his deceased wife, “I Still Believe,” went to #1.
He released 11 albums between 2002 and 2017. Four of these albums are RIAA – Certified as Gold. Furthermore, he has sold nearly 5 million albums. He gained numerous awards and nominations across the Christian and secular music industries.
These include three American Music Award nominations and four ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Awards. “I Will Follow, “his 2017 album, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Christian Album and in the top 25 on Billboard Top 200.
Calvary San Diego is located at 1771 Palomar St. Chula Vista. Service happens on Sundays in–person and online at 10 a.m. Phil Metzger is the Lead Pastor of this faith community.
