The Christian Education Commission(CE) invited the congregation at Palisades Presbyterian Church to enjoy their Lawn Chairs and Lemonade on July 2 at 4:30 p.m. at HGT Memorial Park.

The church’s event section announced that this event is to celebrate summer by giving away summer devotionals to those interested in participating.

They also feature Glenn Osga would present his musical stylings while they simply lay back and relaxed in their chair, enjoying the afternoon sun.

Also, they posted that members could bring their lawn chairs or borrow one from the church. This event would be an opportunity to have fellowship as they enjoy burgers, hotdogs, and ice-cold lemonade, as added on the website. Besides, they mentioned that there would be a corn hole or horseshoe game for everyone.

The CE committee encouraged the congregants to invite their children, grandchildren, and neighbors so they could have fun in the company of their fantastic church family.

Grow at Palisades through Quilt Ministry

The church has a program for each member to grow and mature in their faith. One of which is the Prayers and Square Quilt Ministry.

According to the church’s webpage, this is an interfaith ministry giving comfort to those vulnerable to the gifts of love and prayer.

They added that these programs began at Hope United Methodist Church in Rancho Bernardo. As of today, they emphasized that it includes 78 chapters in the U.S. and Australia.

In addition, a prayer quilt is a “lap” quilt laced with heavy threads. The webpage said these laces, or threads, are tied with a square the congregation knows after each service. A silent prayer is given as each knot is tied.

They added that these prayers are for those most in need.

The church mentioned that it is a word of their faith in God and a belief in His power to give comfort, strength, and healing.

The church welcomes everyone to participate in the said ministry.

They said they would love to have the members be part of the ministry and witness the incredible power of prayer.

Prayers & Squares

“It’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers,” the Prayer Quilt Ministry posted on their website

They are an outreach organization that mixes the gift of prayer with the assistance of a hand-tied quilt.

The website revealed that each word represents a prayer. As each know is tied, a prayer is uttered for an individual in need.

As posted on the website, the completed quilt goes to the person. This product is proof of their belief in the power of prayer. The website also said that these quilts can be called“comforters.”

Meanwhile, their FAQ section noted that they could use a bought comforter, blanket, or a piece of soft fleece for those who do not know how to sew. Then they could gather their friends and family to hold and touch the quilt as they pray.

The website said that members would be filling the quilt with the collective strength of their prayers for the individual in need.
