For decades, the Celebrate Christmas drive has run at Foothills United Methodist Church. Yearly, this is a marketplace of organizations. This drive happened again from Nov. 7 – 21, 2021.

Celebrate Christmas

Every year, Foothills United Methodist Church brings organizations in one place through Celebrate Christmas.

This Nov. 7 -21, the church did it again. It spread joy and promoted generosity through Celebrate Christmas.

Foothills’ web page indicates that it is a meeting hall packed with a representative for worthy causes. It is an avenue where one can give graciously in the name of love. Previously known as Alternative Christmas, it was available online between the dates mentioned above and in person, after service on Nov.14.

The church also provided step-by-step instructions on how everyone can donate online.

Worthy Causes

Celebrate Christmas is full of organizations where people can choose to donate. Common Ground, Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Shelter Network, and United Methodist Women.

Common Ground

This organization is an alliance of three churches – Foothills United Methodist Church, Shepherd of the Valley, and Santa Sophia. For over 20 years, the team has been working to support elementary schools in the Spring Valley Community.

Common Ground helps when an emergency arises.

The contributions support its mission. Additionally, it provides books for home libraries, school, and hygiene supplies. Moreover, it also gives students Christmas gifts, food boxes, and clothing.

Meals on Wheels

Foothills encourages everyone to donate to this cause along with others listed on Celebration Christmas. Meals on Wheels deliver nutritious meals to keep the most vulnerable members healthy, as indicated on its website.

The organization has served millions of seniors for nearly 50 years. Aside from assisting the elderly, it also helps disabled persons to live independently on their own. Foothills provides volunteers for Meals on Wheels. The donations ensure wholesome meals for those in need.

Interfaith Shelter Network

Interfaith Shelter Network benefits the homeless. Its Facebook page represents the effort of more than one hundred San Diego County congregations and 3500+ volunteers, who link to offer hands up to individuals searching an end to their homelessness.

Since 1986, its volunteers and congregations collectively have sheltered more than 8,000 homeless for more than 200,000 bed nights.

United Methodist Women

The vision of United Methodist Women is to turn faith, hope, and love into action on behalf of women, children, and youth worldwide. Foothills UMW raises funds in support of local missions. These missions include Good Neighbor Centers, The Good Shepherd Ministry, and Calexico Neighborhood House.
