Daybreak Church will lead a 100-mile Freedom Run from June 10 to June 12. The event is a partnership with the A21 Campaign against human trafficking. The church encourages everyone to join in this fundraising run that will start at various locations from June 10 to June 12.
Daybreak Church Runs for Freedom, Against Human Trafficking
Daybreak Church works with the A21 Campaign in creating social awareness and doing something to save people from slavery and human trafficking. According to its events page, the 100-mile Freedom Run targets raising $100,000 for the battle against human trafficking.
According to the website, Daybreak Church's goal is to have 100 runners that would raise $1,000. The church also provided another option for those not ready to commit $1,000.
Daybreak will have opportunities for participants to join the run a marathon, half–marathon, and 5k intervals that all end at the church.
The 100-mile Freedom Run will be at 10 a.m. on June 10. It will begin at Julian.
While the marathon is at 6 a.m. on June 11, the starting location is Lake Hodges.
Those interested in joining the half marathon can go to Del Mar on June 11 at 8:30 a.m. Finally, the 5k run will happen on June 11.
As stated on the website, registration for the event is required. Those who want to donate can also give donations on the website.
About A21
According to its website, the mission of A21 is to end slavery. A21 defines human trafficking as the abuse of children, women, and men for their bodies and labor. According to this organization, such as modern-day slavery.
It is one of the largest organizations in the world that solely fight human trafficking. A21 partners with various organizations to actualize its plan of freeing people from slavery.
It collaborates with government entities, frontline professionals, law – enforcement, other non–profits, individuals, and industries.
The A21 organization began in 2008 through the initiative of a few ordinary individuals who set out to abolish slavery everywhere, permanently. The group aspires to have a world where women are no longer sold for sex.
Moreover, it also works to end a world where men are sold for labor. A21 works to have a world where children are no longer taken from their families and exploited.
The organization provides 21 ways people can get involved in fighting human trafficking. Among these ways are by being a volunteer and helping abolish slavery in one of its four offices and around the globe, watching and sharing A21's videos tackling human trafficking and scenarios, starting a fundraiser, and walking for freedom.
Human Trafficking in US
According to News@Northeastern, state and regional law enforcement records probably show less than 10 percent of trafficking in the area. This statement was sourced from new research conducted by Amy Farrell, a professor at Northeastern University.
Farrel studies human trafficking. Additionally, News@ Northeastern also cited publicly available data of crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to this, in 2017, law enforcement reported over 1,200 cases of human trafficking in the United States.
