The Diocese of San Diego will hold a Mass and workshop to raise awareness about reproductive loss. The events will occur at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Rancho Peñasquitos, on Saturday, April 30. The Diocese of San Diego aims to provide hope and support to everyone suffering from such loss.

Mass, Workshop, Providing Hope

As reported on The Southern Cross, the diocese reaches out to everyone experiencing pain from pregnancy loss. The Diocese of San Diego’s Office for Family Life and Spirituality works with Life Perspectives for this great cause.

The partnership aims to provide a hope-filled message through a Mass and workshop to raise awareness about pregnancy loss. The Diocese of San Diego will engage in these events on April 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The venue for Mass and workshop is the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Rancho Peñasquitos. Father Anthony Saroki, pastor of the parish, will celebrate the Mass.

Meanwhile, Sara West of Life Perspectives will talk at 7 p.m. She will share the best practices in reproductive grief and self–care. Attendees will have time to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 4:30 p.m.

John Prust, the Director of the Family Life and Spirituality Office, shared his biggest hope regarding the event. He hopes that participants will go home from the Mass and workshop with more compassion for everyone who suffers from productive loss.

Moreover, he hopes that they will have a broader awareness of how widespread it is.

Reproductive Loss

As shared on The Southern Cross report, John Prust stated reproductive loss is among those topics that make one realize how many people, practically all in one way or another, have been touched by it.

This happens once a person starts to think about it.

Reproductive loss is an inclusive word for any experience of grief in an individual’s health. Other experiences are related to their reproductive health, the result of pregnancy, fertility, or the creation or care of their family.

Additionally, reproductive loss includes experiences of stillbirth, infertility, surrogacy, and adoption. It also pertains to experiences of miscarriage, abortion, loss of a child, and sterilization.

According to the Pregnancy Care Center, pregnancy loss impacts every life it touches. All, including women, men, and families, affected by miscarriage, fetal demise, infertility, and abortion, need to know they are not alone.
