Dr. Contreras will grace City Church San Diego with his presence this coming Sunday, January 23. As announced on the church’s Facebook page, it invites its congregation to come and listen to Dr. Contreras, director, president, and chairman of the Oasis of Hope Hospital.

Dr. Contreras is a distinguished oncologist and surgeon. He is famous for combining conventional and alternative medical treatments with emotional and spiritual support.

In Healing Cancer This Century, the doctor treats cancer as a metabolic disease rather than a genetic disease. The video interview shared on this website showed Dr. Contreras explaining some of the metabolic aspects of cancer that are addressed when treating a cancer patient.

Moreover, he also shared the advantages and disadvantages of gene therapy for cancer and how to improve a patient’s immune system against this disease.

Dr. Contreras is also an author with several books written about cancer treatment.

Mental Health Among Americans, Pandemic

According to an abstract published in the National Medical Library webpage, entitled Impact of Covid – 19 on Mental Health of 157,213 Americans, the pandemic posts an unprecedented crisis with potential negative impacts on mental health.

The abstract reported acute emotions from the pre to acute periods such as anxiety increased while tiredness, calmness, happiness, and optimism decreased. While from the acute to sustained periods, sadness, depression, and gratitude increased.

Anxiety, stress, and tiredness depreciated. In between the pre and sustained periods, sadness and depression increased, similar to happiness and calmness. Anxiety and stress levels went down.

Among symptom measures, initially, anxiety increased from the pre to the acute periods but later went back to the baseline.

This study suggests that although there were negative impacts at the beginning of the pandemic on emotions and mental health symptoms in the first few weeks, many Americans displayed resilience over the following months.

Nonetheless, the abstract indicated that further study is needed.

Friend Groups at City Church San Diego

“Be Spirited Friends.” – Phil 2:2

According to City Church, life is not meant to be spent alone. It believes that all should be a part of a large worship gathering and small group relationship, just like how the Lord planned from the beginning of the church.

This is God’s model, and it works very well.
