Flood Church invites all young adult members to join the Youth Family Dinner to get to know the new Youth Director, Rachel Koch, and her plans for the youth on July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cafe.

The church posted on its Facebook page that there would be a family dinner with a raffle and Q&A with Koch. Also, it would be their opportunity for her to share her story and the plans she has for the Flood Youth.

Besides, they announced that the church would provide the Kabob for everyone. Youth interested could reserve their slots by contacting Kock’s e-mail.

Meet the New Youth Director

In a blog post by the church last June 29, they revealed that after searching for a year, they are excited to introduce their new Youth Director, Koch, to their community. According to them, she grew up in San Diego and recently finished her Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary.

They also stated that she had just married Ethan right at the pandemic's start. They noted that the newly married couple looks forward to settling in San Diego together. The post mentioned that Koch has a huge heart for seeing youth changed by Jesus.

The church formally introduced her during the Sunday service on July 3. They also expressed their gratitude for the interim leadership Josiah Helton has been giving to their youth program. Helton would assist Koch in the transition into her new role.

The blog post announced that there would be camp at the end of the month then Helton would finish his role. The church commended him for a job well done.

Getting Deeper with Koch

The church also asked Koch several questions to know her better. The blog mentioned that she loves Thai curry, Ahi Poke, and all Trader Joe’s snacks. She added that she would like to visit Turkey, Guatemala, and Croatia if she could travel anywhere.

Besides, Koch mentioned that her friends and family call her “Rach” and “Ray.” She also shared her favorite parts of the county, wherein she likes La Jolla Shores and Torrey Pines State Beach. Koch went to her spots when she was growing up but moving back, she looks forward to exploring North Park and Kensington, as posted on the blog.

Moreover, she also shared that when she was younger, Koch wanted to be an event organizer because she likes celebrations, good food, and lots of joy.

In terms of her spiritual status, Koch mentioned that she thinks Jesus has been teaching her to trust, just taking one step at a time with Him. As a planner, she said she wants to go ahead in life, but He is slowing her down and grounding her in daily thanksgiving.

Koch emphasized that she anticipated getting to do life with families, students, and parents at Flood Church. As she mentioned in her interview, it brings her a lot of joy to know students' and families' stories and passions. She said she has enormous hope for what God is preparing for the young people at Flood Church.
