The Congregation of the Rock Church is invited to join the discussion on the inflation update from the Food Cooperative Ministry on June 18 at 11 a.m.

The church announcement said there would be a conversation about the latest national and global economies. They would also discuss the origin of the current policies and the big picture of their current situation. The church also noted that they would talk about their future.

Besides, in the said discussion, they would tackle approaches to deal with inflation and a possible recession. It would be free for everyone, as posted on the website.

Food Cooperative Ministry

According to the Ministry’s Section, this program meets the nutritional necessities in San Diego County. They noted that they make sustainable community gardens for Christian churches.

They also provide nutritious recipes and health education. The webpage also noted that the ministry conducts certification job training for food handlers.

The church established The Regional Food Cooperative Project (RFCP) which is said on another webpage. This ministry aims to build sustainable food systems and resources for daily living. Community gardens and events for daily living education are included in their programs.

The said ministry also works with their neighborhoods and cooperatives, as mentioned on the webpage.

The same website noted that they are thankful for their volunteer work and welcome anyone interested in being part of their team. Yet, the ministry is also looking for some workers with particular expertise. These fields include chefs or creative cooks, registered dietitians, gardeners, and hydroponics experts.

Moreover, RFCP also looks for botanists, landscape design experts, and water conservation experts. Farmers, ranchers, creative sewers, or designers are also needed for the said program. More importantly, they were looking for volunteers to be their prayer warriors.

“I was hungry, and you gave me food,” said Matthew 25:35

Inflation in San Diego

The NBC San Diego news revealed on May 11, 2022, that the inflation was up to 8.3% in April. Jackie Crea noted in her report that though the information was slightly better than the 8.5% indicated in March, it does not provide much relief for families trying to make ends meet.

She added that relief could be on the way from the University of San Diego professor of economics, Alan Gin.

The professor thinks that things will slow down due to the business re-openings that added to the dramatic increase in inflation.

Meanwhile, the news stated that NBC 7 had an interview with Cynthia Newberry. She said that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was not something exciting.

“The inflation rate might be going down, but that doesn’t mean the cost of things is going to go down,” said Newberry in her interview.

With this, Gin noted that some factors affect the cost of goods and services. These factors include the latest job market, labor shortage, and weather events. He also revealed that the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the pandemic’s supply chain destruction have significantly affected the cost of living.

However, he also emphasized that decreasing the inflation rates every month is motivating in the big picture.
