A date night worth investing in for married couples, the Foothills Christian Church encouraged married couple members to join in their Money& Marriage Workshop on June 12 from 9 a.m to 10 a.m.

The church said in its announcement that Ramsay Preferred Coach David LaBahn would discuss how couples work together regarding their finances. They noted that LaBahn would share his testimony about how he and his spouse learned to work together.

Besides, during the said workshop, they would provide materials, resources, and motivation on how to honor the Lord in their finances as a partner.

Coach David LaBahn

David Labahn is a Ramsey Preferred Financial Coach. He is also the owner of Money Under Control, as described in a YouTube video of Lessons Learned hosted by Suzzane, the Head Coach of GRACE Financial Coaching.

Besides, the same website revealed that Labahn assisted his clients in paying off more than $100,000 in debt. They added that he and his wife love hiking, reading, cooking, and traveling.

In the video, Labahn shared his experience handling money and the dumbest thing he has ever done with it. He noted that he was in his 20s when he was working for his father’s landscaping business. He made great money without paying his phone bills, car insurance, gas, and maintenance.

Afterward, he wanted to change careers and work at the Kids Ministry in their church. At that time, he said he was training to be a pastor but had to undergo an internship. Labahn mentioned not preparing for the adjustment, and his first paycheck was gone due to all expenses. Though he had emergency funds, he made less money with high costs.

“That first month was really scary. I remember I had trouble sleeping at night; that pressure was real," he said in his interview. Labahn could not afford to live on his salary, so he worked as a part-time guitar tutor and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.

Meanwhile, Labahn revealed that he was a Kid’s Pastor for ten years and loved doing it. He also learned that he thought he knew everything in his 20s because he had not prepared for the career change.

“I am confident of knowing everything,” he said to Suzanne.

Labahn also highlighted that his experience helped him as a coach to tell his clients to be okay, not to be okay. He said it is acceptable to admit that clients are in different positions and there is hope. The coach tells them not to stay in their situation but to acknowledge it, own it and move on.

Money Under Control

The Ramsey Coach webpage posted that Money Under Control understands how it feels to ask where one's money goes each month. It could be stressful to plan for a stable financial future when the present is still uncertain.

According to money Under Control, headed by Labahn, he would show clients how to stop living paycheck to paycheck. He would also advise on how to win with money.

On the same website, they mentioned that Ramsey Preferred Coach is an independent financial coach providing personal finance coaching and education to help strengthen people to take control of their money.
