Box Office Hit

“Jesus Revolution” was shown in 2,475 theaters throughout the United States and grossed $15.8 million in its opening weekend, securing the third position at the box office.

The film's debut surpassed projections since it was initially predicted to generate between $6 to $7 million, as per Focus on the Family's Plugged In.

Moreover, according to a Collider report, “Jesus Revolution” has sustained its success at the box office, earning an estimated $8.65 million in its second weekend.

It brought its total earnings to $30 million by Sunday.

Lionsgate's strategy of targeting an underrepresented audience, such as faith-based moviegoers, appears to have worked effectively.

However, it's worth mentioning that the production company generated interest in the movie by organizing church and university screenings, which attracted thousands of viewers nationwide.

Additionally, “Jesus Revolution” continues to perform remarkably well in theaters due to its outstanding quality, receiving a 99% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an A+ CinemaScore.

With its $15 million budget, the movie has become a significant hit for Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company.

Jesus Revolution

CBN News reported that the film depicts the real story behind the Jesus Movement of the 1970s, which includes Pastor Chuck Smith's acceptance of truth-seeking hippies in his church.

It sparked one of the most significant spiritual revivals in American history.

The movie is based on Pastor Greg Laurie's book, “Jesus Revolution,” which details the authentic story of the countrywide spiritual reawakening in the early 1970s and its roots in a group of adolescent hippies from Southern California.

After experiencing a spiritual transformation, Laurie established Harvest Christian Fellowship, which is now one of the largest churches in the United States, situated in Riverside, California.

For over 30 years, the church has hosted its local SoCal Harvest event, which is one of the country's longest-running evangelistic gatherings, drawing millions of attendees.

Kelsey Grammer, who plays Chuck Smith in the film, is a Christian and a part of the cast.

Grammer, known for his portrayal of Frasier Crane in the TV shows Frasier and Cheers, is also part of the cast members.

The other members of the cast include Jonathan Roumie from The Chosen, Joel Courtney, Anna Grace Barlow, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
