Long-time friend and supporter of Makers Church, Hank Fortener, will be speaking live at Makers Church on Sunday, Aug. 14.

The church’s Facebook page revealed that Fortener pioneered AdoptTogether.  As stressed in the post, it is the world's biggest crowdfunding platform for adoption.

The church also noted that Fortener has been shepherding for 15 years.

Currently, the church further stated that now he serves as a music executive in Hollywood. The Makers Church encouraged its congregation not to miss this opportunity of learning from Fortener.

Getting to Know His Fear

In the Scott Savage interview with Fortener, he mentioned that he was afraid of looking stupid and failing when he started AdoptTogether and World Adaptation Day.

According to Fortener, he had a “fear of messing it up.”

Fortener stated, “You hope what you’re doing is great because of all the time and energy.” He knew at first that this adoption initiative might limit his potential at some point, which also made him afraid.

Root of His Passion

On the same website, Fortener stressed that he is dedicated to securing children in vulnerable areas in the world to have a family. He believes that every kid needs a family.

Meanwhile, during the interview, Fortener revealed that his parents brought his heart for adaptation and orphans into their family. As further mentioned, he said his parents have three biological children.

Then, the website revealed that they have 36 fostered kids, eight of whom were from five countries.

In his interview, he said that being with those 36 children in their house, he realized that not having a family could impact the soul of a child.

Fortener revealed that there are 500,000 children in their country’s foster care. He added that there are no immediate measures to help them in their families. Besides, according to him, they are meeting 19 million children worldwide who do not have parents.

More About Fortener

The same website states that Fortener teaches pastors at Mosaic in Los Angeles. He also works as a consultant with businesses and organizations, as posted on the website.

Fortener mentioned that he is applying what he has learned in being a pastor for 13 years so he could help these organizations develop. His experience being a pastor could help him understand human behavior, as added on the website.

According to his interview, Fortener is currently working on his book and giving talks at music venues across Los Angeles through podcasts. These talks are done monthly, as noted on the website.

Fortener noted that he still cannot tell his book's concept. He added that because he learned from Elizabeth Gilbert and other individuals, he should talk about the “art form.”

Then after years of waiting for a publisher to permit him to start a book, Fortener realized that he did not need any permission. He stated the art itself is his permission.

Fortener decided to write everything he wanted and consider selling and releasing them afterward.

In addition, the website noted that Fortener speaks at TED regularly and tells stories worldwide.
