The founder of Outpouring, an Outreach Ministry, joined KUSI's Good Morning San Diego.
Pastor Alicia Lowery shared about the organization's work, including the Milk & Honey Christmas Market and Operation Backpack, both happening this Saturday, Dec. 4.
According to Pastor Lowery, the Milk & Honey Christmas Outdoor Market is a way to connect to local businesses, bring them together in a parking lot, and sell their merchandise, especially during this holiday season.
Moreover, the event will serve as an opportunity to raise funds and continue the support of the ministry and do Operations Backpack. The event will also help create funds for making care packages for cancer patients.
Pastor Lowery encouraged everyone to come to the Milk & Honey Christmas Outdoor Market. The pastor continued by saying the event would also help small businesses to generate income.
According to Pastor Lowery, she is so blessed to be living in America, and she believes in giving back, and that is what the ministry is doing.
Vendors will be selling t-shirts, desserts, jewelry, clothing, and unique gift ideas. The Christmas Market will also have live music throughout the day.
It will also be an opportunity for worship. The exact location for the Milk & Honey Outdoor Christmas Market is Heart Revolution Church Parking Lot on 1920 Sweetwater Road, National City, CA.
Outpouring an Outreach Ministry, Operation Backpack
"My heart broke, and I knew we needed to do something." - Pastor Lowery
Still, Pastor Lowery talked about how the ministry started from the interview at Good Morning San Diego. Pastor Lowery's daughter is a bone cancer survivor and has been in remission for six years. Her daughter's condition became a starting point for her and her husband's mission.
Both the pastor and her husband are army veterans. They started making care packages for cancer patients, the homeless, and especially displaced veterans.
According to Pastor Lowery, the organization's goal is to be a blessing, bring hope, and get active kindness and encouragement. She further shared that this year, particularly last month, the organization launched Operation Backpack.
As shared on Facebook, Pastor Lowery stated her inspiration for Operation Backpack - it was a displaced veteran with his backpack. She met the veteran at Ocean Beach.
Outpouring an Outreach Ministry collected over 50 backpacks. The organization filled them up with necessities like sweaters and toothbrushes. Pastor Lowrey and her team get out and distribute these backpacks.
According to the pastor, she feels that everything people poured out to them is now their turn to pour out to the community. She feels this especially for those who are hurting and those in need.
