The church’s Facebook page posted that the congregation met at the church’s parking lot at 6:30 p.m. with their passports.

In addition, the agency constructs basic but vital shelters for families below the poverty line living in the outlying community or “colonias” of Tijuana, Mexico. As further explained, when Project Mercy has enough budget, they offer tools and plans for sanitary latrines.

The same website revealed that the primary reason Project Mercy strives to attain their goal is the inappropriate housing that harms the residents' health throughout the year. They explained that some insects and animals, such as rats, tarantulas, and scorpions, occupy shacks.
As further mentioned on the website, the houses' roofs are also leaking, and the walls built by patches could not keep the dusty winds during summer or winter rain.
The Project Mercy website noted that the residents are prone to respiratory and bronchial illness every winter. Besides, infants suffer from coldness, which leads to their death. They added that fire claims are reported yearly due to flimsy shacks' lack of heating attempts.
The website revealed that most of the individuals living in this area do not have restrooms and human waste on land.
Residents’ Situation
The same website that many individuals continue to move to in the region. They noted that the electric power is limited, and there is no sewage system. The website added that the place is exposed to illness and disaster.
More importantly, the agency found that there are no temporary houses for the homeless and no soup kitchens for those with empty stomachs. They said parents are afraid for their kids as winter approaches.
