Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ announces that the 2022 Stewardship Campaign has officially begun. The church mailed the Stewardship letters on Oct. 22.
2022 Stewardship Campaign
“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” - 2 Corinthians 9:7
According to its website, the Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ announces that the Stewardship Season begins. It reminds its members to be ready to receive the stewardship letter. POVUCC sent these letters last Oct. 22.
Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ requests that its members prayerfully consider pledging any amount to POVUCC. The pledged amount will help the church continue its operation and mission as a faith community and an avenue of transformation.
A copy of the letter was also attached to the announcement. It further explains the Stewardship Campaign. The committee, composed of members of POVUCC and Pastor Mary Sue Brookshire, provides details about this campaign.
As stated in the letter, the church reported the financial status of POVUCC. The letter shared the church’s gratitude to everyone’s generosity, for they are doing good financially. This situation is despite the past couple of troubled years.
Nonetheless, the church appeals to its members to prayerfully consider increasing their pledge by 6% or more. The church further stated that it understands that not all can increase their giving to 6%. POVUCC offers help through its Financial Secretary to those who are not sure how much they can pledge.
The appeal for increasing pledges is due to the increasing cost of living in San Diego. As stated by POVUCC, although it had been keeping a tight lid on the church expenses, it would likely be affected by increasing prices in 2022.
Another Way to Give
“We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done.” – Allan Turing
The letter also indicated that besides giving donations, members could help the church in other ways. POVUCC sometimes calls it the giving of Time and Talent. It encourages members to consider volunteering in the church, serve on a committee or board, or get involved in accomplishing tasks.
The church will be happy to find ways for members to serve. They only need to contact POVUCC.
About POUVCC
As per its website, Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ wasn’t always POV (Pioneer Ocean View UCC). At one point Ocean View UCC and Pioneer UCC were separate churches. Nonetheless, their beliefs and values are very alike.
Then, in 2004 these two churches merged and became today’s Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ – POVUCC.
As shared on its official page, the first worship service of POVUCC happened on Oct. 3, 2004, with Pastor Norma DeSaegher. While the official Uniting Service was conducted on Oct. 31, 2004, with guest preacher Rev. Dan Romero.
The church mission is to ignite hearts everywhere with God’s love. POVUCC’s mission is to extend God’s extravagant welcome to all. The church serves the community with openness and acceptance.
Moreover, it promotes peace and social justice through nurtured prayer, worship, and music ministries.
