Rock Church distributes groceries in partnership with Feeding San Diego

The Rock Church City Heights gave out groceries and diapers to communities last March 10. The drive-thru distribution welcomed all who wanted to get some supplies. This regular event at the Rock Church happened from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

Groceries for All from Rock Church, Feeding San Diego

The Rock Church continues reaching out to those in need through its groceries drive-thru event. The church held a distribution event last Sunday, March 10, at its City Heights Campus, San Diego. 

Its San Ysidro Campus website shared that the Groceries Ministry feeds those in need of groceries who attend the campus. It offers several bags of groceries per service, no strings attached. 

Before the event happened, Ely Wagner of KUSI News talked to Mario Compean, City Heights Campus Pastor and Feeding San Diego. Pastor Compean shared more details about the groceries drive-thru event. 

According to the interview, the Rock Church has food distribution, provision. The church is handing out groceries and diapers to anyone in need in the community. Registration is not required. Moreover, there is no need to fill out any criteria ahead of the groceries drive-thru distribution.

The Rock Church, through Pastor Compean, also encouraged the community to share the news about its groceries drive-thru distribution. Perhaps, some people they know could use some of these groceries and diapers that Rock Church and Feeding San Diego offer.

Pastor Compean invited everyone to come. According to him, they give out groceries until supplies last. Moreover, he also informed the public that they could go to any of the Rock Church locations if they missed these groceries' drive-thru distribution. 

Effort to Meet Food Insecurity in San Diego County

According to Pastor Compean, the Rock Church distributes groceries and diapers in its various locations every week across the county. Moreover, the interview shared that yearly 450,000 people face food insecurity every day in San Diego County.

He also stated that anyone in need could get groceries, and they do not need to be members of the Rock Church. This event is a part of the Provision Ministry. Pastor Compean stated they had seen many people from different walks of life through this ministry. 

Pastor Compean also shared that the Rock Church aims to be the tangible resource that people can use to meet their food and other items. 

He emphasized there is no shame when people undergo a season of need. 

Carissa Casares of Feeding San Diego explained 211 as a fantastic way to get supplies if they can’t drive or walk to the location. It is an amazing way for everyone to get help in general. 

Furthermore, it is not just providing food. People can call if they need housing and mental health. According to her, 211 could provide resources if people call or visit its website.  

Moreover, Carissa Casares stated Feeding San Diego had partnered with almost 300 organizations like the Rock Church. Feeding San Diego can give out food to the community through these partnerships.
