San Diego Today reported that Shannon Wolf, the campus minister at San Diego State University (SDSU), shared her experience attending the event, which was held on Thursday, Feb. 23, and discussed the activities of the evening.

It was the celebration of Collegiate Day of Prayer's (CDP) 200th anniversary and was a special day when colleges throughout the United States gathered together to worship Jesus Christ through preaching, prayer, and singing.

According to the Daily Aztec, SDSU was one of 4,196 campuses that participated in the event, which was made even more special due to the campus' various Christian ministries.

Night of Prayer, Fellowship

According to Wolf, the evening began with a worship session, during which participants took time to ready their hearts for God and sing together.

The remainder of the night was devoted to different ministry organizations addressing specific prayer points, followed by participants forming small groups to pray over those topics.

Wolf stated that these prayer points encompassed a wide range of topics.

It included confessing any sins for personal holiness and interceding for various student groups such as sororities, fraternities, student-athletes, and international students.

Wolf mentioned that this was the second event she had attended since joining the Challenge staff.

On both occasions, she stated that she left feeling motivated and uplifted about the work they were doing on campus.

According to Wolf, it is easy to become disheartened when focusing only on one's ministry and realizing how much of the campus remains untouched.

However, attending these events and interacting with other ministries revealed to her that God is also working through them.

Wolf realized that He was using each group to reach different segments of the population that their organization could not reach alone.

According to Wolf, the unity of the Church at SDSU is truly beautiful, with no competition or comparison among ministries.

She stated that they genuinely want to support and encourage one another to spread the Gospel and ensure that all SDSU students come to know Jesus.

Wolf added that events like these are also beneficial for students, as it helps them realize that they are not alone on campus.

She stated that it could be challenging to openly identify as a Christian when Christians are a minority on campus.

However, after attending events like this, she stated that students could see that there are other like-minded individuals, not just in their ministries.

According to Wolf, this realization can embolden them to partner with other believers and share their faith with their peers.

Collegiate Day of Prayer

CDP is a nationwide event dedicated to praying for college students.

This year, the event marked its 200th anniversary, with people across the country taking time to pray for the next generation to know and share Jesus.

Believers across the nation took responsibility for specific campuses and prayed for the students there.

According to the CDP’s vision, if spiritual battles are won across the nation but college campuses have been ignored, the progress will be undone within a generation.

Therefore, it is essential to support and earnestly pray for today's students.

However, it is not enough to pray individually; there needs to be unity in prayer efforts.

Without genuine, unified prayer, the aspirations of this generation may never be realized.
