As the celebrations for Christmas commences, the church acknowledges that not all are in high spirits. St. Bartholomew's supports those grieving through the Blue Christmas Service on Dec. 22, 12:00 p.m.
Blue Christmas Service
Through the Blue Christmas Service, St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church reaches out to those who may be overwhelmed by memories of the past, current situations, and pain.
According to the church, the holidays can be difficult and can remind anyone of the challenges in life. In line with this, St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church will hold the Blue Christmas Service on Dec. 22, 12:00 p.m. at the sanctuary.
The church encourages everyone to come, listen, pray, and sing. Moreover, it invites them to meditate upon the pain they carry.
St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church asks people in pain and grief to offer these heavy loads to Christ. It has faith that as people attend the Blue Christmas Service, they will discover hope and comfort knowing that they are not alone.
About St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church
Worship happens every Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays, 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. The church location is 16275 Pomerado Road, Poway, CA US 92064.
In 1960, St. Bartholomew's was established as an organized mission. On Feb. 28, 1960, the first service was held. It was an evening prayer with 30 attendees in the old Poway News building, now the Hamburger Factory.
Rev. Charles Condor officiated the service.
As an Episcopal church, St. Bartholomew adheres to the historic Nicene Creed and the Apostles' Creed as central statements of its beliefs. Moreover, it considers the Bible to be divinely inspired.
The Holy Communion or Eucharist serves as the church's central act of Christian worship. St. Bartholomew's, as an episcopal church its liturgy is guided by the Book of Common Prayer. It also unites Anglicans across the globe.

Interfaith Rotational Shelter
St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church provides shelter to homeless individuals and families for two weeks each year. Such is possible through its Interfaith Rotational Shelter program.
The Interfaith Rotational Shelter provides meals, overnight accommodations, and transportation to its guests. Its ministries and volunteers help the shelter to operate.
The rotational shelter begins at the start of the year; the church encourages volunteers to sign – up in December.
Interfaith Community Services
At Interfaith Community Services, volunteers help the shelter during particular times of the year. They help prepare and serve dinner to residents in the Interfaith Recovery Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the month's first, third, and fifth Sundays.
The shelter serves as a safe place where low-income individuals and the homeless can recover from alcohol and drug abuse in a long–term residential setting.
St. Bart's, for its global mission, provides financial support to Epiphanie School in Loranette, Haiti, and in Vida Joven de Mexico - Tijuana, Baja California.
