A Gathering for Hope

Please join is for our first fundraiser in the Bay Area for the benefit of the children of the Refuge of Hope Bucerías. Wine and delicious appetizers will be served and are included in the ticket price. All proceeds from tickets and the auctions will go to the Refuge.

About the Refuge of Hope Bucerías

A few miles north of Puerto Vallarta, Bucerías is in the very center of tourist activity. However, poverty is crippling here. Single moms work as beach vendors, hotel workers and house cleaners to earn less than $15 a day. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that many of them have not been able to work. Family violence, drug and alcohol addictions are common place and their children have been out of school for 2 years. These children are the most vulnerable to hunger and abuse - they are in dire need of education, nutrition and caring.

After delivering over 5,000 food hampers throughout the community at the onset of the pandemic, we realized that moms - and sometimes dads - really need care for their children on a day-to-day basis so they can work.

After finding an abandoned building in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Bucerías, the Refuge of Hope opened in April 2021. We now have 21 children who come every day to receive education, nutritious meals and other enhanced activities like sports, art and music. We offer Bible classes and English classes, and we have a lot of FUN!

Our goal is to keep families together, help them grow stronger and healthier, and help them overcome the trauma and abuse most of them have experienced.
