SUMMARY:

The Annual Giving & Engagement Manager works as a member of the Church’s leadership team, building the spiritual practice of transformational giving in a congregation motivated by service and love. The AG&EO plays a vital role in a high-performing Fund Development team focusing on the Church community. The ideal candidate will possess an ability to connect a spiritually centered stewardship plan to our spiritual community locally, across the globe, and across platforms, as well as the ability to teach Glide Church that to give is to celebrate spirituality, recovery, truth, beauty, imagination, and hope to inspire social change.

Initially reporting to the Director of Fund Development with dotted line accountability to the Minister of Celebration, this position is central to achieving our strategic plans. This position will lead the planning and strategic expansion of Church fundraising efforts, moves management, ambassador management, donor cultivation, and stewardship. The work week for this position is generally Sunday through Thursday and requires flexibility to work one or more evenings per week, weekends, and holidays as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and manage a meaningful and rigorous donor development and moves management plan, including the church’s membership process, the annual pledge campaign, annual fundraising, stewardship, engagement, and solicitation strategies for Glide Church in collaboration with the Director of Fund Development, Minister of Celebration, and Glide Memorial Church Board of Directors.
Manage a portfolio of Church donors and prospects, prioritizing one-on-one meetings, guided, and aided by activity metrics.
Serve as a Church staff leader, participating in Church, Celebration, and Congregational Life meetings and activities to build relationships of integrity and trust within the congregation. Develop non-giving members into giving members across the community spectrum; act as a representative of the Church in internal meetings; be a thought partner with other departments to prioritize and integrate the needs of the Church in all areas.
Lead and train Church leaders, members of the Church Lay Leadership, Congregational Leaders, and other congregation members in relationship-building and fundraising for Glide Church.
Lead the reemergence of Glide Church’s congregation and community-led fundraising practices.
Lead engagement and solicitation strategies for supporters of the Church, including weekly and monthly donors, significant donors, and unique, first-time, and one-time visitors. Model best practices and help build a culture of philanthropy where everyone is empowered to be a fundraiser.
Manage Digital Fundraising consultant relationship.
Manage Church board relations in collaboration with the Minister of Celebration.
Manage fundraising-related communications and marketing needs collaborating with the Minister of Celebration, Church storyteller, GLIDE Communications staff, and digital media consultants.
Identify funding trends and opportunities to engage new audiences and secure new funding streams, including exploring institutional prospects.
Introduce new giving channels and opportunities for the congregation, particularly online. Rethink/Reimagine weekly, offering opportunities to address the reality of today and the future.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

BA degree and 5+ years of experience in non-profit fundraising, preferably in faith-based or membership-based organizations (e.g., museums, arts, theater), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Outstanding stewardship and relationship-management skills with meticulous follow-through.
Prior experience working or volunteering within faith communities is strongly preferred.
We have a proven track record of maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and supporters, preferably in a faith-based or membership-based organization.
Knowledge of the Bay Area philanthropic landscape and funders that emphasize giving preferences aligned with GLIDE’s faith and justice work is preferred.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills; fluency or rapid acquisition of fluency in the languages of faith-, racial- and justice-centric giving.
Ability to engage donors in giving practices rooted in spiritual transformation and justice.
Evidence of entrepreneurial engagement with giving audiences – the creating new engagement initiatives and innovations in community-based giving opportunities.
Ability to synthesize complex qualitative material and ambiguities, translate them into readable and engaging prose and communicate it clearly and succinctly in proposals, reports, and other communications.
Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, strategic, discreet, and professional, managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Experience with fundraising databases and research tools; Salesforce experience preferred.
