Bookkeeper– Part Time

Opportunity

The Bookkeeper is responsible for executing the church’s day to day accounting and pledge secretary responsibilities. The Bookkeeper works in the Church offices and reports to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff. This role collaborates with Finance and Stewardship Commissions, Treasurer, and Office Administrator. This is a 14 hour/week non-exempt position, open and available now.

Responsibilities

· Pay expenses, record income associated with the operation of the church. Works with Staff, Treasurer and Commission Chairs maintaining proper records/approval process. Partners with Treasurer to develop and evolve accounting policies.

· Process, record, and distribute payroll for Staff and Contract Workers.

· Issues a Monthly Financial Statement showing Income and Expenses for the time period. Statement includes information on Operating Accounts as well as the Dedicated Accounts. (Oversees bank accounts as well as accounts held at the Synod of the Pacific)

· Helps with processing Legacy Fund contributions.

· Process monthly credit card and other pledges payments.

· Create proposed budget in collaboration with Finance Commission, Treasurer and Commission Chairs.

· Oversees financial health of the church, working with Finance Chair and Treasurer

· Supports preparation of annual fund pledge packets in conjunction with Office Administrator and Stewardship Commission.

· Updates pledges and weekly donations.

· Sends quarterly statements to donors.

· Resources Stewardship Commission with donor information for purpose of solicitation and follow up.

· Responds to member questions about pledges/payments.

Qualifications

· 3 years bookkeeping experience working at church/non- profit organizations.

· Knowledge of Accounting and payroll systems.

· Proficient in Excel, Powerpoint, Word.

· Display good written and verbal communication skills.

· Self-motivated. Works easily with multiple co-workers as well as volunteers.

· Ability to prioritize responsibilities with excellent time management.

· Experience in handling confidential information.
