The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

Position Purpose:
This position is an extension of our ministry leadership team and will be assuming a senior ministry staff role. This role will lead and assist in ministry activities throughout the entire facility such as teaching, preaching, and spiritual coaching alongside and under the direction of the Corps Officers (Senior pastors/Executive Directors). The role will specifically oversee all aspects of youth and adult ministries, and assist in providing spiritual care to staff, Railton residents and guests of our community center. The position is designed to help push the spiritual aspects of our mission in serving and building relationships in the Tenderloin Community.

Essential Responsibilities:
Campus Congregational Life (Staff/Guests/Residents/Church)

Provide consistent access and opportunities for pastoral care and spiritual guidance within program and service initiatives at the facility.
Be available Sundays for leading, teaching and assisting in worship service. (Be willing to Preach on rotation and as needed, with consideration for special observances and sermon series planned).
Contribute to organizational health initiatives and trainings under the scope of spiritual care
Assist in Divisional Event activities (including, but not limited to organizing registration, transportation, and chaperone duties when offsite events/programs depend up on it).
Network with other faith-based entities to identify community needs and opportunities.
Lead and plan service opportunities for staff engagement and community outreach.
Lead and plan fellowship events for Facility Congregation.
Participate in spiritual and emotional care training as needed.
Be available for prayer and spiritual support as needed.

Youth & Family Programming

Plan and implement “faith-based activities” that attract youth and their families to the facility.
Work with our education department to help insert and teach Christian curriculum at every opportunity possible.
Assist in leading, planning and executing weekly ministry programs (including, but not limited to, special seasonal events and outreach opportunities such as vacation bible school, community movie nights and Tenderloin Family Festivals).
Assist on the Pathway of Hope team and give support in understanding wrap around services needed through building relationships with families.

Administrative and Support Duties

Be able to organize budgets, statistics, reports, and correspondence for reporting and sharing our mission with others.
Assist in donor and facility tours when it comes to the “Missional” and “Spiritual” aspects of our services and programs – Under the direction of the Corps Officers.
Work with Executive Leadership Team on addressing community needs and networking goals.
Build volunteer base for ministry activities and assist in providing volunteer support for all facility programs and services.
Attend and be a part of the Kroc and Railton Council meetings to understand scope of support.
Attend essential training opportunities pertaining to position and/or personal, professional and spiritual development.
Support all fundraising initiatives and be prepared to plan and lead special fundraisers to support ministry programs as needed.

Qualifications:
Must be a Christian in Profession, Confession and Demonstration.
Bachelor of Arts in some form of Christian “Ministry” (i.e. Organizational Leadership, Pastoral Care, Youth & Family Ministry, Missions Work, Christian Education, Church Admin., etc.)
Minimum of 3-5 years of previous church ministry experience and service (preferably in youth and family ministry).
Must be 21 and over and maintain a valid California Driver’s License. Must successfully complete Decision Driving Safety Test before driving for The Salvation Army and annually recertify as required.
Be available to work weekends and be comfortable with establishing our church as your place of worship, service and leadership.
Must have experience in teaching the bible to all ages. (Preferred competency in preaching to youth and young adults as well).
Must be able to teach and disciple within our church doctrine, practice and beliefs.
Have experience in overseeing and managing staff and volunteers.
Willing to Complete and Maintain our Protect the Mission courses to ensure child safety.
Ability to read, write, and communicate well in English required (Bilingual and fluent in Spanish preferred)
Must possess a strong emotional and spiritual maturity in order to lead, guide and teach others about our mission and movement.
Must be able to operate and function both in a team environment and individually. Within this, possess the organizational skills to plan, implement and execute Ministry goals and initiatives – on top of meeting deadlines and prioritizing projects in a time-sensitive matter.
Maintain a professional attitude and approach in problem-solving and able to maintain confidentiality/sensitivity.
Must be able to work and relate well with all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and have demonstrated
Capabilities working with families and diverse communities.
Able to navigate different forms of social media platforms and have the creativity to use these platforms to advertise
Reach out to others, teach and form mission-driven messages for our followers and community.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Doc, Excel, PPT, Outlook Mail, Publisher & Teams)
Willing to learn all Salvation Army databases and software platforms (including Kroc Specific software)
Ability to communicate effectively; ability to interact with co-workers, management, leadership, and the general public in a positive, productive manner.
Must possess a passion to serve all
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. (usually file boxes)

Compensation

$70,000 - $80,000 - Exempt Position - DOE
