Meet Reality SF:

We are a community of people who have been transformed by the Gospel of Jesus and have devoted our lives to following Him. It is our aim to communicate the unchanging truth of the person and work of Jesus in a way that everyone in our city can understand.

The dream of Reality San Francisco began in 2007 when Dave Lomas and his wife Ashley moved from Bakersfield to Carpinteria to begin the process of planting in the Reality Family of Churches. Two years later, they moved to SF with a core team of 13 people.

Our initial prayer meetings in Hayes Valley were full of dependence upon God and anticipation of what He might want to do. Public gatherings began at the Swedish American Hall in the Castro on January 10, 2010. Due to rapid (and unexpected) growth, we eventually hosted four services there before moving to Everett Middle School in 2014. Currently, over 90 Community Groups meet during the week throughout the Bay Area. God has been so kind to our church community, and we love being a part of what He’s doing here in San Francisco.

About the Children's Minister:

Reality SF is a church community located in San Francisco, California that strives to be a community following Jesus, seeking renewal in our city.  We are looking to hire a Children's Minister with strong pastoral and leadership skills and the ability to develop and invest in a growing volunteer staff. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who has extensive prior experience in children and family ministry with an abiding love for Jesus and a deep desire to see His Kingdom advanced.

The Children’s Ministry Minister is responsible for the overall development and management of the ministry to children and their families. The Children’s Ministry Minister will work closely with the Marriage and Family Pastor and other staff members to identify goals, initiate plans, and invest in volunteer leaders in order to build a high-quality, safe, and creative ministry for children and their parents.

  • Implement the vision for The Village (The Sunday Children’s Ministry) that is consistent with the church’s overall vision; work closely with other staff members to set priorities and solve problems.

  • Lead and manage all RealitySF Children’s Ministry, e.g. Children’s Sundays, graduation and special events - including: planning, calendaring and event management, staff/volunteer coordination, facilities needs, etc.

  • Recruit, interview, train, schedule, and manage volunteers in a way that promotes their personal growth while effectively executing ministry programs.

  • Codify program content to continually equip volunteers (e.g. through the creation of training materials).

  • Assess existing curriculum and make recommendations for implementing and maintaining chosen Gospel-centered curriculum applicable to kids from birth to 5th grade.

  • Foster the development of community outside of Sunday morning with mid-week activities and programs (e.g. VBS, family movie nights, kids day at the park, etc.).

  • Encourage children in using their God-given gifts in ministry with one another and with those outside the church.

  • Oversee supplies and inventory for the Nursery & Kids areas/classrooms.

  • Work with the Media Communications team to maintain an active R/SF newsletter, blog, and email accounts.

  • Develop a COVID transition and safety readiness plan that will allow for children’s ministry and activities to transition from a mostly digital online engagement to in person engagement (when allowed).

  • Work with other staff team members and volunteers on special programs and Children’s seasonal involvement with Sunday church gatherings (e.g., kids choirs, special event readings, etc.).

  • Budget ministry expenses and manage expenditures of the budget.
