GENERAL SUMMARY
The Community Life Pastor is sensitive to different personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and
grafts them into communities that help them blossom as a disciple of Jesus.

GOALS

  • Foster connections and relationships within the 10am service through life groups.
  • Creates a place where all people can belong.
  • Create and foster a healthy group of life group leaders.
  • Make people feel unique, loved, and accepted as Jesus would.
  • Finds resources to care for people with various needs.
  • Be the resident “community life champion” and disciple-maker.
  • Multiply the number of life groups by recruiting, equipping, encouraging, and

empowering life group leaders.

  • Live life on life with life group leaders to encourage their personal growth as they

become more like Jesus and the growth of their life groups.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Work with 10am pastor to be informed of leadership priorities and decisions, with permission
to speak into teaching and preaching of God’s word.

  • Meets with community life leaders and conducts wrap up dinners.
  • Creates and organizes special events that focus on building community and reaching

within and outside the church.

  • Oversees life groups leaders and inspires life groups to form special events.
  • Demonstrates and encourages the gift of hospitality within the groups by i.e hosting

people, doing life together and sharing life together.

  • Find people with the gift of hospitality and foster a missional mindset.
  • Shepherds life group leaders with resources and one on one meetings.
  • Creates performance plans and reviews for the team at least two times a year.
  • Be the “point person” for community life in the 10am congregation, focusing

particularly on the growing and discipling of Life Group leaders and coaches.

  • Guide 10am members and guests to develop deeper and more meaningful relationships

with God and each other.

  • Facilitate, maintaining and developing relationships in the local community for both

social/community outreach and service outreach opportunities.

LEADERSHIP: Help plan the overall direction and vision of the 10am service focusing on future
spiritual and ministerial objectives that can impact the church as a whole.

  • Big-picture planner, ministry partner, coach and motivator.
  • Lead and manage other staff and volunteers to implement communications strategies.
  • Is a servant-leader who finds joy in serving others with the goal of spurring them on in

their walk with Christ.

  • An individual who can lead, motivate, establish ministry objectives and execute plans

with a heart of service and humility.

  • Work with the 10am Lead pastor to be informed of leadership priorities and decisions,

with permission to speak into teaching and preaching of God’s word.

  • Develop and train up the CEBC Leadership through pastoral care and coaching.

Administration: Although the Community Life Pastor focuses on building community within
10am service, the Pastor should have skills and abilities to effectively manage a variety of
administrative tasks associated with the position.

  • Attend meetings to provide feedback and insight into the overall direction of 10am

service.

  • Oversee the recruitment and training of future church leaders
  • Support and participate in the ministries of CEBC

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters from an accredited and respected Seminary or at least three years of

experience as a pastor.

  • At least 2 years experience leading small groups/life groups.

CHARACTER EXPECTATIONS

  • Authority in the local church belongs to Jesus Christ. As such, neither

the CEBC Pastors nor the congregation has exclusive rights to authority in the
church. They must mutually submit to Christ.

  • CEBC Pastors are called to lead the congregation by providing leadership and care in

an attitude of love and humility while never lording it over the congregation.

  • The CEBC Pastors are accountable to Christ, to one another and to the congregation.

No Pastor has more authority to make decisions than any other Pastor affirmed by the
congregation.

  • The Community Life Pastor shall personally and publicly be committed to following

Jesus Christ and this should be reflected in the pastor's character and family lifestyle. (1
Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9)

  • A growing Christian faith and character- Faithful, Intentional and Teachable

(FIT)

  • Spiritually healthy in personal worship, evangelistic, loving, and seeing

everything as a learning opportunity from God

  • A relational and engaging personality that tends to value people over the rote

completion of tasks

  • An ability to work with people of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels,

and generations
 

  • Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of CEBC
  • Has knowledge of and commitment to CEBC’s mission statement and beliefs
  • Attend 10am CEBC worship service for the duration of employment
