OVERVIEW:

The SF Chinatown Corps Ministry Assistant is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting youth and corps programs in both English and Cantonese.

 

DUTIES:

  • Plan and implement Summer Day Camp and Afterschool Programs, including curriculum, schedule, and staffing.
  • Schedule and oversee the gymnasium activities and rental groups.
  • Connect with the youth in the neighborhood to establish relationships and meet the needs of the community.
  • Plan and develop monthly calendar of activities/programs.
  • Report to and take direction from the Corps Officers for daily program assignments.
  • Support corps social services and program activities as assigned.
  • Plan and implement programs and bible studies for youth and small groups.
  • Develop regular visitation and outreach for assigned ministries.
  • Attend Corps Council and staff meetings, including staff training sessions.
  • Assist with planning and implementing seasonal programs.
  • Maintain sound Christian theology and practice (Refer to Salvation Army Doctrinal Statements)
  • Other program duties as assigned by Corps Officers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bi-Lingual (English/Cantonese)
  • Must possess a valid CA Drivers License
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicle check.
  • Must be Christian and show evidence of personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Must be comfortable leading and providing translation for worship services
  • Pastoral and youth experience preferred
  • Excellent Bible knowledge
  • Experience with Chinese-speaking community and culture
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Energetic, personable, dependable, flexible
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Salvation Army programs and policies
  • Must hold or obtain a First Aid or CPR certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
