ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with, or lead regularly scheduled Corps programs such as:

  • Youth Activities, Sunday School, Junior Church, Camp Programs, VBS and Special Programs and Divisional Events.
  • Assist with seasonal work including kettles program, and food and toy donations. Connect with kettle locations and kettle income.
  • Christmas assistance application intake and distribution, Adopt a Family and toy sorting and bagging. Employees and Volunteers.
  • Prepare monthly statistics reports.
  • Prepare monthly calendar
  • Assist with Emergency Disaster Service efforts as needed.
  • Carryout the weekly day to day activities of the Hayward Corps youth Drop-in Center weekday afternoons. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Supervision of Program assistant(s) including staff and volunteer according to Salvation Army Protect The Mission (PTM) standards;
    • Maintain all child application files
    • Recruitment of students for the program.
    • Preparation of promotional materials.
    • Communication with parents and schools regarding activities of the program.
    • Collection of all program service fees in accordance with financial procedures.
    • Coordination of transportation for students in the program.
    • Coordination all activities of the program in accordance with PTM standards.
  • Meet bi-weekly with Supervisor to review the daily activities of the Drop-in Center.
  • Assist in weekly troops program as assigned by Corps Officers.
  • Assist the Corps Officers in the development, planning and implementation of corps and community programs at the Hayward Corps: including
    • Plan and lead the Lunch Bunch program, which includes planning the meal menu.
    • Assist with the exercise program. This includes set-up and preparation.
    • Assist the Corps Officer, in planning and leading the weekly Home League women’s program.
    • Assist if needed, all aspects of the meal given out at the Sunday Night Dinner program, including coordination of volunteer agencies, food preparation, set-up and clean up. This will include maintaining a weekly schedule of assignment for the volunteers for this program.
    • Manage and coordinate community volunteers for weekly corps programs.
    • Provide quarterly program activity calendars and budgets, if applicable, for each program under leadership for Corps Officer approval.
  • Provide support to Corps Officers for seasonal duties for the Hayward Corps:
    • Assist in the Backpack Distribution client intake
    • Assist in organizing Backpack Distribution event
    • Assist in the Thanksgiving and Christmas client intake
    • Assist in organizing and operating the Angel Tree program
    • Assist in organizing distribution for Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Perform other related program assignments/duties as directed by Corps Officers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a high school graduate or have equivalent GED.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties in a business office.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to create, plan and implement Salvation Army programs.
  • Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out your job responsibilities.
  • Have good interaction and phone skills.
  • Interact professionally in all contact with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
  • Possess maturity and confidentially.
  • Have a comprehensive proficiency in Windows, which includes Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Must have a Class C Driver’s License. Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must complete The Salvation Army Driver Qualification Requirements
  • Complete the Drivers Qualification File: Drivers Application, Clean driving record, Complete and pass Decision Driver Module, complete driving record release forms.
  • Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate a telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information
