As part of its strategy for moving forward, the Glide Foundation has completed conceptual plans for a real estate development project which will renovate its existing headquarters and the adjoining Glide Church celebration space to house functions including but not limited to meal service, clinical operations, offices, and onsite services. Glide is seeking a real estate development professional who would take the lead in advancing the creation of this and other commercial, and mixed-use projects which will house Glide operations.

 

General Summary

The Director of Real Estate Development works closely with the CEO and Glide staff to lead further visualization and execution of the strategic goals, objective and priorities for the design and construction of the Glide Foundation’s real estate projects.

 

The Director will help plan, organize, and manage all functions and activities assigned, including the coordination of the external consultants who comprise the project team, public agencies, and officials, and potential joint venture partners. The Director of Real Estate Development will be responsible for originating, coordinating, and implementing all aspect of the project development – from conceptualization and feasibility, through design, construction, closing and move-in.

 

The Director will work closely with the Glide Foundation fundraising and development staff to help create and execute the fundraising strategy for the projects.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage all phases of real estate development, including feasibility analysis, entitlements to use, creation and revision of proformas, and managing the design, financing, and construction phases.

 

  • Facilitate development partnerships as required with local institutions, community-based organizations, and local jurisdictions.

 

  • Manage preparation and execution of the financing plan for the project, including applications to public and private sources, donors and debt sources.

 

  • Help the Glide Facilities Department to coordinate temporary relocation and ultimately move-in process working with internal departments within the Glide Foundation and Glide Church

 

  • Oversee compliance with city, state, and federal regulations as applicable to the project development.

 

  • Work through CEO to maintain communication with the Glide Foundation Board in general and to the Real Estate Committee specifically.

 

  • Work with the leaders of the Glide Church to coordinate project design and completion.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Undergraduate degree in business, finance, real estate, or planning is preferred

 

  • Experience in building successful commercial and/or mixed-use real estate development projects with focus on financial feasibility and analyses, San Francisco and State of California approvals.

 

  • Ability to work enthusiastically as a part of a mission driven not-for-profit organization.

 

  • Proven ability to act as project manager for external real estate development team and to effectively deal with and solve problems on a variety of issues that may occur during the real estate development process

 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including preparation of presentations, reports and correspondence

 

  • Excellent organizational coordination, problem solving and time management skills and the ability to work independent of close supervision.
